Airfix Tucano
Airfix Tucano
Well, I have searched the site and can not locate anything on this but...........anyone successfully added enough weight to prevent tail setting? Instructions call for 9g.
Thanks in advance.

No. But some advice given to me was to put a nail in the leading edge of each wing. I'll be using a lead ej. seat in front but the plastic kit one in the rear

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Thanks Fred. Never thought of that option.

Re: Airfix Tucano
Cue the Mission Impossible theme; here is your mission, if you wish to accept it.
The sanity of Airfix modellers all over the world depend on you completing it successfully; to build a Tucano that doesn't tail-sit!

Did you perhaps do the same thing as me and assume Aeroclub would have put two Tucano seats in the packet. I can't think why they supplied them singularly when specific to this aircraft.fredk wrote:No. But some advice given to me was to put a nail in the leading edge of each wing. Re: Airfix Tucano
Back when I did mine, two Aeroclub seats and a metal prop did the trick. I sure wish I could get a couple of these Aeroclub Tucano props now!

I was at what we in the States call a "garage sale" recently. One man's junk is another man's treasure sometimes. I bought a small box off office supplies and in the bottom of the box was small postal scale. It shows weight on the LCD scene even it I stare at it hard. Also converts to metric. This will get me in the ballpark weight wise. I mean how hard can this be?

Re: Airfix Tucano
I use fine fishing weights and superglue, If needed put a small bulkhead in the fuselage half to keep the weights in place and pour in the weights, Then add droplets of superglue in with the weights. This method even got a hobbyboss P39 to sit on it's wheels.
All the best.

Re: Airfix Tucano
Perhaps because the rear seat is very aft of the pivot point, thus one has to add more weight to counter it.JamesPerrin wrote:Did you perhaps do the same thing as me and assume Aeroclub would have put two Tucano seats in the packet. Re: Airfix Tucano
I have finished Tucano as well, and I thought I had enough weight, but sadly no, and I could not find room for more.
