2017 Range Out on the Airfix website
Looks like the 2017 new and revised releases are listed. No new items other than what we are already aware of, but some re-decaling and revising. The Fortress III may be of interest (seem to recall somebody hoping for one).
Just checked back and the website is being updated. I wonder if somebody let the cat out of the bag a couple of days early?

Re: 2017 Range Out on the Airfix website
The catalogue was due for release today. I think the site is being overloaded as I got a site down for maintenance this morning soon after going live at 10am. I think the Sea Fury was missing though and has since been added.
I think in the current economic climate we should be grateful for any new releases from Airfix, though as someone else pointed out I would have expected maybe more starter kits (just Provost T3) but it maybe the new tools aren't suitable for that market.

I bet the prices have gone up.
Re: 2017 Range Out on the Airfix website
They published last night, that the new range announcement was 10am today.
Nothing new that we did not know about previously, ie just the 6 new tool planes, and there are 3 more of those lego-type kits: a couple cars and a camper van
A selection of existing miltary planes are being reissued with new paint schemes
Prices: series 2 - £10, 3 - £13; 4 - £19, 5 - £21 6 - £25....
Ships, figures and armour builders get nothing ... infact we are worse off, as the old existing ranges were heavily culled in the mid-2016 cull.

I quite like the look of the redecalled Meteor. Trouble is I've only just got hold of the original release.

Another "unintended consequence" of Brexit - the sharp devaluation of the Pound and all that. Despite that, the cost of Airfix kits has gone up dramatically here as well - any 'savings' due to the devaluation of the Pound have been offset by these increases, which have been passed along to us overseas consumers seemingly without any exchange rate changes.fredk wrote:The prices went up to the present levels last November
As for the 2017 range, they'd already announced all of their new moulds over the course of the past couple of months - I do wonder what exactly people were expecting? I couldn't believe some of the childish comments on other fora. I guess people had all become spoiled with the one massive New Years announcement, as happened up until a couple of years ago. That's also why the advent calendar was so underwhelming - previously, we'd have a couple of new announcements tucked in there as well. In some ways, the Airfix marketing team has shot themselves in the foot, by creating expectations where there shouldn't be.

The B25 and Me262 are of interest as well as the Sea Fury. Enough to keep me busy. But it will be a long wait here in the States. Have had good luck via Hannant's however.

And I've got two of the USAAF editions already
Best wishes

Re: 2017 Range Out on the Airfix website
I'm looking forward to some of the new schemes even though the kits themselves are not new, e.g., there are so many possibilities for the P-51D.
They also appear to be releasing a pure bomber version of the Blenheim IV which again should provide some nice additional schemes with no new tooling required.

Re: 2017 Range Out on the Airfix website
I have had my problem with the A.C.C. Website fixed, so I have today attached the listing of the new releases to the "Stop Press" section (http://www.airfixcollectorsclub.co.uk/;).
It only lists the releases as I shan't be getting the catalogue till the weekend.

I'll be picking up all the 1/72 new releases as they become available. Pretty happy with the ones they are doing (especially the Phantom) and in a glass half full observation, not deluging us with tons of new stuff takes the pressure off both the wallet and the build schedule!

1/48 Walrus -- all I need.
I still have one CA Walrus en stash, so maybe a comparison build, just for old times sakes.

The Walrus is the most appealing to me too, ever since I built the Matchbox kit in the 70s.
