Photobucket Questions

Post by Dirkpitt289 »

Do an of you guys use photobucket to host your pictures? I've been using it from day one but recently I noticed its DOG slow. It takes forever to tab between pages and the popups are maddening. No other web site is acting this way so its NOT my computers.

What other photo sites do you guys use to host your photos?

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my questions

For putting them onto the forum I use the 'add image to post' button below the reply box.
For everything else I use Dropbox for work photos and Flickr for fun
Best wishes

It's a bit of Post/Zip code lottery as I think it depends on what server you are on e.g I'm on http://s156.photobucket.com/; and have never really had and serious issues. Yes the website is a bit sluggish, but are so are a lot of high profile cloud services that I use as part of my work. The first alternative it to use our own postimage service (see icon below the reply test field)

Dirk, I gave up trying to use PB last night. It was the slowest I've seen it in a long time.
Gonna give it another try today and see if things have improved.
As for other sites, I used to use Flickr, wasn't too bad.
Regards, Paddy.

I've been having issues with it also, used it today during working hours and it was a little better but i did use chrome rather than Internet Explorer. Editing is a nightmare, so so slow and sometimes the orientation is out even when the original is the right way up. A real pain in the a##e.

Running ok for me.
I use Firefox browser and run an Ad-blocker proggy which stops the pop-ups except one from PB itself.

Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

I just logged in (using Safari) and I got a pop-up saying: 'We're doing some maintenance around the site, so there may be some performance issues. Click here for more information'. So, it may just be a temporary thing, it's been working pretty well for me the last few weeks.

I seem to be lucky in that I've never really experienced the issues that other folks have. The navigation is a bit iffy, and I am running out of free space, but other than that, I have no issues or beef with PB. I never edit in PB as I have Photoshop for that.

However, I do find that the Post Image works best in Chrome - and it doesn't even appear in IE.

I'm glad it's not just me then! For most of the time I've been on here I've never had any real problems with PB but over the last two or three months that I have posted photos the site has been an utter pain in the neck to use and it took about 40 minutes of messing about just to post one photo on here before Christmas. To be honest I have not been posting as many photos recently because of PB issues and I will give the Post Image function on the forum a go as I am a Chrome user and it seems to like that!

I've had issues with the google-to-picassa blast up that has ensued past months. So much so that I started using Chrome on advice from here and now use the post image so photos stay on my drive and I have no idea what happens to them with post image but they are not of a sensitive nature that I am worried about them.

I use PB and it can be a slog to get things done. I try not to put more than a few pics on because it can be slow getting from page to page. Works okay but it can be a long time just posting one pic!. I've even returned to my little compact camera as I can set the picture size as load up and post. The lovely SLR I have is superior but I have to resize the pics on PB and that can take ages.
Hoping to return to modelling sometime this year!!

I used to find it very sluggish but then I paid PB a couple of bucks to get rid of all the ads. That certainly has helped. It's only slow now logging when it doesn't know I've kicked the ads out. So for me I felt it was worth the small price to pay as I have a lot in the library there already.

Yes, I keep seeing that 'to get rid of ads upgrade' bit. Still being stingey, or trying to save money, which ever sounds better!!  . Might try it eventually.

Pay for the service?!?!? I am a professional Yorkshireman and therefore spending money does not come naturally to me at all :ha: :ha: As until quite recently I've not had any major problems, I must admit that I've never looked into it but I assumed PB would cost quite a few bucks over the course of a year on their paid option.
