Tamiya Paint
Does anyone have any experience with brush painting with Tamiya Acrylics?
Have you ever tried using Mr Levelling Thinner?

Re: Tamiya Paint
I use them for brushing from time to time; thin well and use three coats, if you don't you'll never get shot of the brush marks as they dry so fast otherwise. I've not used the thinner you mention, just the Tamiya X-20A. A wide flat brush also makes it easier to apply them without brush lines. If you can apply coats one and three in the direction you want (e.g. in the direction of airflow over a wing) and put coat two on a right angles to help cover thin bits. Even thinned, work quickly!
Best wishes

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

Re: Tamiya Paint
Like Iggie, I too can successfully brush tamiya. I also thin the paint and make sure the plastic has a base coat of something. In my case the base coat is always Revell aqua in some suitable colour, as they are my preferred paint. (I only use a brush on all my models).
Once brushed on a thin coat, the key thing is do NOT under any circumstances over brush it to cover any bits you miss, as it skins very quickly and will then pull, and that is when it all goes wrong. Wait for the first pass of paint to dry and then patch in on those missed or thin areas, wait for them to dry; and then go for your second coat overall

I use their acrylics pretty much all the time. Just remember to prime first as the acrylic will stick to the plastic much better.

Re: Tamiya Paint
Just picked up a can of primer, a bottle of retarder, some tamiya thinners and some paint.
There's a fair few vids on youtube about brush painting Tamiya Acrylics.
I'll let you know how I get on.
