Yeovilton Airday 2012

Post by splash »

Yesterday was the Fleet Air Arms Airday at Yeovilton, the main thing missing was RN aircraft  and due to world wide commitments there wasn't any a/c to carry out the traditional large commando assault.

Fortunately I watched it from a friends house who's garden backs onto the main runway :-D

Here are some of the photos I took, unfortunately most of the day the high cloud cover did not make a good backdrop but later the cloud cleared and a the sun and blue sky made it better for photography.

How long before this colour scheme appears on a Revell box top?

Is it me or is this helicopter smiling :-D

The Red Arrows got photo bombed by a Bird in this shot

Nice to see this old jet still flying, it seamed more graceful and a lot quieter than all the modern stuff
My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

Did a little time-travelling, eh, Alan? ;-)

I think the photo bombed Arrows is a neat photo with the little swallow in there!

Yep, that's about how long it takes me to process my shots from an airshow too!

Love the 'eyes' scheme, and I'm sure that'll be released soon, if not by Revell as AM decals (I hope!)
Best wishes

Love the sound of the early jet engines.

And yes the chopper looks like it is flying.

Incidentally, I was able to watch some of the show live on the computer via the PlanesTV YouTube site - they offer coverage of a number of shows free, albeit at lesser picture quality, as an enticement to subscribe. Next show for them is Fairford, I believe.

I watched some of it on Planes TV as well. The highlights for me were the MiG and the Whirlwind.
