HMS Caroline

Post by splash »

No not the Radio ship off the SE coast of England but the type "C" cruiser built in 1914 that has just been refitted and on display in Belfast dock yard.

I have just got back from a holiday on the P&O Oriana and we birthed opposite HMS Caroline so I thought you might like to see a photo of her in all her glory.

My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

That's quite cool to see, reminds me of being down at my Grandad's house in Plymouth overlooking Devonport.

All models are equal. Some models are more equal than others.

That is a gymnasium.
For a while Caroline was a training ship and that was the gym for the trainees.
Thats a view we don't get.
Its usually one of looking up at her from the wharf
Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

If they return her to her original 'Gym Free' condition, that would suit me down to the ground.
So many models, so little time.

Great photo Alan, but the gym does rather spoil her lines somewhat!
Best wishes
