New Airfix 1/72 Messerschmitt 262A available

Post by fredk »

One of the new kits eagerly expected is now available

The new Messerschmitt 262A-1A A03088
https://www.airfix.com/uk-en/messerschm; ... -1-48.html

I wonder why the link code has 1-48 in it instead of 1-72

They must have spotted the mistake. Link now
https://www.airfix.com/uk-en/messerschm ... ore=airfix;
Although it still has 1-48 in it. Probably will change again

I think he's not fussed on a new kit of a Luftwaffe aeroplane and perhaps would prefer the effort put into a new Allied aeroplane kit

Well I am looking forward to a new tool Airfix and knowing the research gone into it, must be a good one.

I know it sounds a bit ungracious, but guys, there are dozens of Me262 kits on the market! In the meantime, the MiG-19, built in its thousands, blooded in war and used by a huge number of different air forces hasn't been kitted in proper scale since 1965! You may not agree with me, but surely you can understand the frustration...

Oh, and Eduard are bringing out a new Fw190. Good to see the gaps in the market being filled.

And the fact that there are dozens of 262 kits (and 190s too) is precisely why Airfix will continue to update their toolings with this kind of kit; there is a massive demand for them!

I do understand your frustration but it'll be the limited run producers who will be the ones to tool the less glamorous (even if more numerous in real life) subjects, until they create to popularity that means it then becomes viable for the mainstream producers to jump in......

Anyway, Mistercraft make a perfectly good Mig-19   :-D :-D :-D
Best wishes

I won't dignify that with an answer...wait, yes i will! That IS the 1965 tooling I was talking about, albeit in a bigger, nicer box!

At least us SMAF fans are getting nicer boxes. i suppose we should be grateful... :)

It's an interesting one and that's for sure - Even if you don't have an interest in building Luftwaffe aircraft (which I don't) the 262 has such an important place in aviation history that most of us should at least have one...

So I've ordered one - I might whiff it though. I was thinking of Spanish (they had the 109, why not the 262) or IAF markings - actually that would look cool in desert Camo with the Stars of David markings... sorry I'm thinking about this as I type)

Do you know something - I don't think I've built a NT Airfix kit since the instructions went to CAD...

(Airfix NT me262 SKGB anyone?)

Cheers

There ya go; something to be happy about then! :ha: :-D :-D

I have to say, I love the Mistercraft instructions that show the most wonderfully detailed parts.......and the blobs of plastic you actually find in the box

Hear hear. Having recently forced a result from a hybrid Mistercraft/KP kit plus Pavla resin bits Mig-19, I would love to see a new 1/72nd -19 on the shelves.

I agree, surely there are more deserving aircraft subjects out there, there are many perfectly good Me 262 models out there, without Airfix adding to them.
