...a real filler monster! PM Mirage 1:72

Post by Crashpilot »

....but I have to admit I had fun building this (up to now!), mainly, because parts count is so low,
and because this is a good project to better my skills in "sanding-til-it´s-smooth" - if I should erase any panel lines?
I don´t have to worry bout that, cause there are hardly any!
The nose looks so strange, because I extended it with a cut out from a drop tank, to make the Mirage into an Israeli Nesher (those have a longer nose).
....it´s still a far cry from smooth, the surface :???:

Well done - that's a notoriously bad kit. I don't know why they don't sell it as a tub of putty and some plans and cut out the middle man. :)
Keep going, you've already done the hard bit.

...yes, those undercarriage doors are the best fit of the whole kit
I have to admit that I knew what was expecting me, when I bought it!
But all those "joyous" descriptions of this kit I read in the net, made me curious
I fear the money I´ll spend on sand paper for this one will equal the price of the kit :omg

Good for you. A pretty horrible kit but can look quite presentable with a little work and yours looks good.

Thank you for the encouragement!
Don´t know yet when I´ll work again on this beast? maybe on the modelling weekend of my club in November?

Keep up the good work. I have only ever build one PM kit before and I remember it being loads of filler with bits of plastic added.
Cheers

I like tackling PM kits. The only kit I ever gave up on because I found it too hard to sort out (as opposed to just losing momentum) was the PM Ta154. However, I've since bought another one and this time have vowed to see it through to the bitter end.

I used the end halves of a droptank and some plastic card for better intakes. Turned out ok.

I did something against the see-thru effect in the intakes, too.
After so many comments here, I feel like grabbing the kit right away, and working on it

Distracting markings are the best bet to make the PM Mirage look good :-D

I'd have thought a dustbin would have been a better bet.

I´ll try the camo and markings that came with the box - but I better cover them over with liquid decal film - I read several warnings in the net about the brittleness of PM´s decals 8-(
