Is there anyone who can mould a couple of replacement parts?

Got something to say about the hobby of model making?

Is there anyone who can mould a couple of replacement parts?

Post by Spaceowl »

It's like this.

I'm preparing for my next build, which is a 1/72 Monogram Skyraider. As I've gone through the parts list, I realise I've been stung again, and bought a kit with missing bits off Ebay. The bits in question are a difficult shape (They're the two small undercarriage doors that sit at the top of the landing gear), and although I have a pair from an A-1H I was going to build later, I haven't the knowledge or expertise to cast a replacement. Is there anyone out there who can do that for me (or alternatively has a spare pair in the spares box)? I'll cover all costs involved, and it would help me finish a kit that has already cost me enough grief before it's even started.

Basic moulding is easy-peasy.
Have you got any plasticene?
Press the part into that. Remove part carefully. Lightly coat the hollow with olive or cooking oil, then mix some two-part epoxy glue and dribble in. When that sets you'll have a part. The plasticene mould will be destroyed with each casting tho
Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

I can cast small parts, Rob. I just need a master and I can make you a small mould.

Should the plasiscene bit not be any good. That was how we made extra parts years ago. Also using Play Do and plaster.
So many models, so little time.

I have the Monogram/Revell Skyraider parts you need, just PM your address and they are yours.
