Traplet Publications in receivership - a question

Post by JohnRatzenberger »

I renewed my subscription to Marine Modelling International in June, confirmation and all. Then nothing since July issue.
I sent a query to customer service rep and then a follow-up -- nothing.

So today I started poking around. It appears they went into receivership shortly after my order. Web shop closed, website taken over by Sarik Hobbies or something like that. There are topics on other hobby forums.

A couple questions:
1. Does anyone have any good links to what went on and what is current status ? (That is, a white knight to save them?)
2. Under UK law how do I, the little guy, fare in all this -- what are my options ? (I know, after the lawyers get theirs, I have none.)

Annoyed ....

What way did you pay for your subscription?
If it was by credit card contact them and they might refund your money.

If it was by cash or money order; say goodbye to the money - unfortunately

Its complicated, but in UK law subscribers/buyers get their money back first, then the debtor companies and then the administrators - all this if there are any funds to give out at all. If the funds are low it is apportioned at a % rate. Also if the company was part of a greater group they may have funds to pay off the buyers and debtors
Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Yes, I have put in a claim to the credit card company, so that's working.

Any idea what happened to them ? Traplet has been around a long time, with a number of hobby & craft magazines, etc. MMI was my sole remaining subscription, but some years ago, I may have had 3-4 magazines, mostly flying aircraft model related. It seems to have been quite sudden.

Oh, well ....
