ID quiz, with a difference.
ID quiz, with a difference.
Here's a model I threw together many moons ago from the spares box. How many different models can you recognise the parts from? Extra cudos if you get the model and manufacturer correct.

Re: ID quiz, with a difference.
Well, the stand's Matchbox!
Re: ID quiz, with a difference.
But there are parts of the Matchbox Westland Wessex in there, the fuselage, the nose insert and the curved pipes near the tail.
Re: ID quiz, with a difference.
Nice one for getting all the Wessex parts and the stand.
Clue. There are six more models involved here.

Are the tail fins and the cockpit fairings from the Fouga Magister? Airfix or Heller.

Re: ID quiz, with a difference.
I think the tail planes are too broad for a Magister
Perhaps from an F4 Phantom, and perhaps the two exhaust nozzles as well
The jet engines look like RB211 pods, maybe from a Lockheed Tristar

Phantom tailplanes and exhausts it is. There's more from the spook in there too.
Sorry, not tristar units. All parts are from 1/72 kits.

Re: ID quiz, with a difference.
Those engines do indeed have the appearance of airliner turbofans so if we're talking 1/72 and, very likely, military types I'll take a guess that they came from an Airfix S-3A Viking.

Shaun is on the money there. Correct re the engines.
A slight curve ball one part came from a kit at times labled 1/72 and others 1/76.

Re: ID quiz, with a difference.
I'll take a punt that the lower round nose guns are the front ends of a pair of Airfix F-4 Phantom gun pods.

A quick summary. Bits left to identify.
Engine supports
Rear engine pods
Cockpits
Cockpit fairings
Bulge under nose guns.
Main gun.
Is this fun for you guys? I am thinking of doing anorher junkyard parts special and may do the same quiz idea with that.

Re: ID quiz, with a difference.
Two out of two is a good result but I have a feeling I may well fail to get three out of three - my guess for the long cockpit fairings is that they are fashioned from a pair of ADEN gun pods from an Airfix Harrier.

Re: ID quiz, with a difference.
If there's something from a kit with a 1:72 - 1:76 scale crisis in there.. I will put neck out and guess it must be main barrel from a matchbox / revell armour kit
