I am referring of course to kits that got started and still make that "j'accuse!" from the cheap seats on the edge of the workbench, or worse! So far I have at least seven started but not finished, and at least four rebuilds languishing in dusty corners of the bench, and that doesn't include many other built ones that have not prospered at all in storage.......what say you?

Just the one..... an Airfix Domine that needs engines and paint. It's in the bottom of a cabinet and will likely stay there for a long time yet.
I generally only tackle one kit at a time so don't tend to leave anything outstanding

An in depth count proves that I have 26 models started and then abandoned. Some are just started, and some are a few short hours away from finish.
I'm not ashamed, because I only build what I enjoy building at any given time. No one is holding a gun to my head to get anything done that I don't want to do. Besides, sooner or later, I always seem to regain interest and go back to them. They are not my pile of shame; they are my ladies in waiting.

Two. Both painted and awaiting decals and details but I can't summon any interest at the moment.

None for me,if I get fustrated with a model it gets thrown against the wall and ends up in the recycle bin.

Not really on the shelf of shame, as I still consider these all wip, even if I haven't touched them in months - but currently I have 4:

I'm enjoying all of these and they will all get finished at some point.

Now ask me how many started kits I've put back into their boxes and thrown back into the stash!

Oh Stuart, buddy...I share your pain, hahahah! Some kits scream "Heck yeah let's get at 'er!" and others are heard to murmur "Mmm... not today bud. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either"

I decided to get a handle on that and listed all those I could see easily, each on a 3x5 card, and I will use those to prioritize and manage my progress. The first up is the Frog Shell Tanker ....

This could mean that when a card/kit turns up as next in queue, the decision is to trash it and take the next card/kit ....

I'm in the 30 - 40 range too, for all the same reasons. Usually see a film or documentary then think got one of those so start it then interest wanes, one I really need to get back to is a 1/350 LHD-1 Wasp with all 3 White Ensign sets.

None. I take the 'Mastermind' approach to every build that I start, i.e. 'I've started so I'll finish'.

I echo iggie. I can only muster enough attention at any one time to build one kit. If I start one, I really try to focus on that one kit until it is done. Hence why sometimes it takes me months to build a single, simple kit.

I've only had one kit I never finished - a 1/48 scale Monogram TBD Devastator. I had it 90% complete, but I ended up giving it away to a fellow collector and builder.

My longest "bench sitter" was a 72nd scale Academy B-24 that I was building as a "tribute" build of "Lady Be Good". That one took me the better part of two years to finish.

Of course, it could be said that my entire stash is a 'pile of shame' as even though unstarted, the chances of them all being built before I peg it or the kids push me off Beachy Head (not joking, we have an agreement) when I start dribbling and wetting myself are slim indeed!
