That is what I would probably put at the top of the guess list too. After all, we did hear officially, a good while back, that there was one in the pipeline, and so if they have been stalling, over actually releasing, but have it ready to drop out, it may now be time for it, and if there are not a lot of other new releases coming from them, releasing it now will cause a good buzz and chat among the many forums etc.

Alas though, whatever it is that gets announced, we can only hope that it is cutting edge and good technology etc etc.

I know we have not had many new small scale tanks in last 10 years, but when the Cromwell appeared, it was great and had some good new concepts and features for tanks from Airfix, in how it went together etc, and then when the Tiger II came along couple year after, it was a step back by comparison with the fit and concepts it presented. Equally, when the Afghan range came out and some of the items in that range were good, (jackal/coyote/warrier) and others (landrovers) not quite the ticket.

Having had a good look through the Revell range for 2018, there are a few nice new items in there, and a fair number of re-releases and collaborative reboxings. So whatever Airfix come up with next week, we need to look at their overall offerings, in line with others. Both Masterbox and Miniart have a few nice new offerings in their catalogues that have caught my eye too.

What is nice, is the option to download catalogues as PDF's from some of these companies.

What, a catalogue you can actually obtain in the same year it relates to? What an odd idea..... it'll never catch on :-D
Still no sign of the Airfix publication :???:

There's many a true word said in jest though, boys and I'll get a chortle out of it if it's a Spit :ha:

On a more serious note, I wouldn't be surprised at the Vulcan but would prefer to see something earlier like a new tool Camel, SE5A or Bristol Fighter.

I hope whatever it is they do, that they do it right. I have to sadly admit to being somewhat disappointed with the last few Airfix kits that I got. Some of their stuff is just sublime, but they've had more misses than hits last year or two. Too many of their models end up looking like they're made from sown-together pillows.

The best description ever!!!

p.s. I'm voting Vulcan.

I'd prefer them to do something original too but I've just got this horrible foreboding about Spitfires.

As long as it's a late mark Griffon, I can do a few more for the table

I do like Spitfires and have even been known to build them from time to time. But please, Airfix, if you are going to release a shiny new kit to commemorate this year's substantial anniversaries don't let it be a Spit. Surely you have more imagination than that. Oh mercy, no. I'm begging now. You can't see me, but I'm on my hands and knees.

The Camel is shown in the AMW calendar for 2018 so I'm guessing we will get one. Given it's diminutive size in 1/72, I'd be hard pressed to use the adjective "spectacular" so I'm really thinking both a Vulcan and a Camel (or two Spitfires).

Or a 1/24 Camel? Probably not so likely as Wingnut have the large scale WW1 market pretty much covered.....

You could be on to something, Jamesaw. Camel to commemorate the WW I centenary and Vulcan to commemorate that of the RAF?

I haven't got the calendar. Anything else interesting on there that's not currently in the range?

The calendar features (in monthly order) from January:

Westland Sea King HAR3
AV Whitley Mk V
Sopwith Camel
Avro Shackleton MR2
Supermarine Swift FR5
English Electric Lightening
Eurofighter Typhoon
Hawker Typhoon
Supermarine Spitfire Mk1a
HP Victor B Mk2
Red Arrows Hawk
Hawker Hurricane Mk1

So you got your spitfire in there .... we might get the seaking larged up to 1:48 !!!

As I said before - I suspect it's new tool Camel. I personally would be happy to see a NT Eurofighter or F-35B but I suspect that's not likely to happen.
