Re: Airfix 2018
A. Airfix have not done a new tool Eurofighter Typhoon; that one is the old one based on the fibreglass mock-up
B. The Me262B can be done as the Avia CS92 [one of the kit options] which was the trainer version

Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Its not just how good your painting is, its how good the touch-ups are too.

Re: Airfix 2018
I quite fancy the 1/48th Hunter but, best of all, no new bloody Spitfires!
I'm not sure about digging up that 1973 Marauder though, and a few non-aircraft subjects wouldn't have gone amiss.

Following discussions with Airfix today, I have posted the full range of Additions on the A.C.C. Website: http://www.airfixcollectorsclub.co.uk/; ,as shown in the new catalogue. I should receive my copy tomorrow, when I will update the Deletions section.

Re: Airfix 2018
They won't be getting much of my hard earned this year, I've gone mad and ordered the current new Phantom but I'm afraid I won't be paying nearly a fiver more for the Lightning since it's last issue.
I know most things go up but there are some hefty hikes in there. There are some nice subjects but I'll be waiting to pick them up as bargains further down the line . If I was unaware or buying for a new starter and coughed up for the Centenary boxing it would probably put me off Airfix for a good while, putting those 2 duff kits in there doesn't do much for the brand in my opinion.

Re: Airfix 2018
Very disappointing apart from the 1/72 F-4, B-26 and '262, too much 1/48, no 1/600 ship reissuue nor 1/76 AFVs, very poor show Airfix
I agree they could've at least bought out a new tool Camel, 1/72 or 1/24 would be equally welcome

Re: Airfix 2018
Revell is doing a 1/72 Hunter re-release this year. I don't recall if it's the F.6 or FGA.9 that's being reissued but Hannant's has the full list so you can check there.lancfan wrote:The ME262 B1a, Phantom FGR2, RAF Mitchel and Wellington are all very interesting and will find their way into my stash but a giant Hunter will never be included- I can only hope that Revell will re-release their 1/72 scale Hunter kits, also the cold war 1/76 AFVs surely still have a market ? where are they?

Re: Airfix 2018
The real question on the 262 will be whether Airfix models the cockpit differences correctly. The trainer had a full set of controls and instruments for the back seater, the nightfighter had a repositioned rear seat, no matter flight controls, and the radar console in place of flight instruments. I'm actually not expecting Airfix to get this right but haven't decided if I would prefer they do an accurate nightfighter cockpit or an accurate trainer cockpit. Maybe it's time to post on the Airfix forums again; I did have a hand in getting the Martlet cowl corrected.fredk wrote:A. Re: Airfix 2018
I agree Shangos. For me, most of them are a bit too costly. And I think the centenary of the RAF deserves something better than that box set with two old clunkers in it.......shangos70 wrote:They won't be getting much of my hard earned this year, I've gone mad and ordered the current new Phantom but I'm afraid I won't be paying nearly a fiver more for the Lightning since it's last issue.

I am aware of that. This is crossed wires, when someone uses the "Typhoon" moniker as a stand alone description I think Hawker and I'm probably not the only one.fredk wrote:A. Airfix have not done a new tool Eurofighter Typhoon; that one is the old one based on the fibreglass mock-up

A 1/48 Austin (Katy) ambulance would have been good. Tons of diorama potential there

I believe its the FGA.9 albeit at almost 3x the original cost. I think it first came out at about £7.99 the rebox will be about £20, quite a jump for a new set of decals. However due to the scarcity of the originals I've seen this and the FGA.6 selling on Ebay at over £25.

Re: Airfix 2018
My fault for not saying Eurofighter or F.Mk.2 in my first post. I know its the old Eurofighter as an Airfix Rep told me at Telford that they were not making a new oneShaunW wrote:I am aware of that. Re: Airfix 2018
I see the 2018 list carries A09187 Walrus Mk.I 'Silver Wings' - although the kit number is new, I am assuming it is only a markings/decal change ?
