Has anyone tried to post a 3D photo on here yet?
I got my son a 3D photo camera attachment for his phone at Christmas ( a kind of stereo periscope lens, clip-on thing ) and it got me thinking about trying to take 3D model photos. The only thing is, it would require anyone looking at it to have a 3D viewer headset.

I struggle with 2D........

The other problem with 3D images is what kind are you using. Side by Side images can usually be a converted to most systems but then you require proprietary hardware to view. Anaglyphic stereo though (old fashion blue|red images) can be viewed by anyone with those cheap cardboard glasses.

Ah! that was what I was wondering, whether the cinema 3D glasses would work or not. It is a side by side type rather than the anaglypta thingy . Still, I'll give it a shot. Menkind shops have 3D viewers for £15 just now so I'm going to get one of those. My son let me use his to view a '3D Spitfire flight' on YouTube where, with the headset on, you can look around and out of the 'pit wherever the fancy takes you.....superb stuff! If anyones kids have 3D viewers, get them to let you see it.

Cimema 3D projectors project the left and right images through differently polarised filters simultaneously, the glasses have the corresponding filters for the left and right eyes and therefore each eye only sees one image.

If you have two glasses place the right lens of one in front of the left of the other and it should block all light.

I got a 3D phone attachment and viewer for my birthday and gave it a try today on the horse and rider from Charleys War. It actually looks pretty darn effective! It will take a bit of practice to get the lining up right and it would probably work much better on larger subjects or different scale dogfight doubles (1/72 Spit chasing a 1/48 109 for example ) but I think this has potential

It does sound like a good idea, I have a 3D TV that will convert two images into 3D when you use the polarised glasses. I played with it for a while but the novelty soon wore off.

I have a cheap cardboard 3D viewer that my iPhone fits into, that would work with side by side images on here, but the limitations would be the size of the images you can publish as you would need to get the two images plus the space between them into the normal max width of a normal image.

You could use the old red/blue filter technique and publish both a 3D and a normal image on the same thread that way you get around the size issue and everyone can see the image.

I know that this is not lined up well, but this is a learning process and I thought the trial and error might be of interest. I'll see how it is with this and make improvements from here.
