My library just grew......

Got something to say about the hobby of model making?

Best three books ever! If anyone needs to learn about the Lanc' these are the books to have.

Oh, yes - good stuff. 8-)

Added some goodies over Christmas including the Putnams US Naval Aircraft since 1911 for a bargain $8! My parents gave me the Haynes Manual for the Vulcan - looks like a good read.

Just bought Mosquito - A Pictorial History Of The DH98 from eBay for £5.01 + P+P. seemed a good enough bargain.

Book just arrived, despite being posted yesterday second class! Some very useful photos in it, including an unusual looking PR version used by the US 8th Air Force with V shaped windscreen & H2X nose radome which looks like the NF30 bull nose, based at RAF Alconbury. Might have to build that one if I can find out a bit more about it!

Eric "Wings on My Sleeve" Brown's book on the Miles M52, which is an interesting read, but a slightly odd assemblage of content from at least two authors -- Brown and the Chief Aerodynamicist on the project. I suspect that the publishers have cut and pasted some bit from Brown's memoirs or lectures with some kind of archived technical memoir from the aerodynamics guru. The styles are very different! Tony Buttler's "British Experimental & Prototype Aircraft of WWII", which has some great modelling subjects (mostly requiring scratchbuilding, I suspect) and also very interesting fodder for the aircraft recognition quiz. Finally, I too have a Haynes Manual for a Vulcan, so between us, Paul and I can return the next one to flight...

bestest,
M.

Meanwhile, I have bought a lot of books recently, but my latest aquisitions are:

From 1989, so it is more than a 10-page booklet.....

From 1960. Ditto..... ;-)

A good read about a lesser-known WWII story.

And a real blast from the past - what was likely my first aviation reference book:

This recently published book is probably the only book on Schneider Trophy racers you'll ever need especially as a modeller as it has scale drawings of every plane that was built for the cup whether it made it to the start line or not, in fact it has many of the projects that never got of the drawing boards too. Scrupulously researched it is a good read too, though not as many photos as one would like, those that are included are clear and useful. Includes a table qualifying the available photographs and drawings so you know evaluate his drawings. I hope that we may seen further models of racers based on his research.
