I picked up these two for £3 each from a local charity shop, the US Coast Guard Cutters & Craft of World War II is an interesting book containing over 330 pages of detailed information about all of the US CG cutters with excellent detailed plan and side profile drawings.

I really did not realise the extent of the US CG during the war, the book covers every thing from very small craft lightships to LST's and paddle steamers.

I'm a big fan of Michael Rinaldi's armour models so I ordered these, lots of really useful weathering info and great photography.

I just picked this up from "The Works" reduced from £20 down to £6, lots of black & white, & colour photos covering the prototype a/c up to the final flying example with lots of information on the engine research trials for the TSR2 & Concord plus all the different weapons trials.

Over 200 pages of excellent information. Grab one if you can.

This is a nice book I got second hand online:

No, didn´t go all the way to Derbyshire to get it from the library, some online sellers got ex-library stuff.
It´s a nice book, but I wouldn´t buy it for the often steep prices they ask of you!
I paid less than 20 Euro in total, it seems cheap - but, you know, it has that library smell to it, know what I mean?
It´s a book from 1993, and it tells that it´s from the pre-Internet age (back then, the net wasn´t in widespread use yet).
For a book of 220 pages, the "informative value", so to speak, is not overwhelming, but we´re spoilt nowadays, of course!
My favorite are the 16 coloured pages with sqn colours:

....and a lot of b/w photos with good to fine resolution! Is written in a nice, narrative style (but have only started to read the text lately).

I am a massive Marvel fan and I do repaints on alot of Iron Man figures purely because I can't afford the huge price tag of a Hot Toys equivalent!
I saw this was reduced today from £25 to 88p so had to have it!

A friend gave me most of the first 6 years of Scale Models, Oct 69 - Dec 75.
Back when magazines were real sources of information, IMO.
I'll probably start a quest to flesh out, year by year, up toward 1995/2000, depending on how the history, photos, drawings, and conversions hold up ...

This fits nicely with my collection of Airfix Magazine and my long run of AeroModellers, of which Scale Models was a spin-off.

My wife asked me if I really needed more old magazines, silly girl. :)

Some additions to my groaning shelves

We can blame splash for the Chieftain book and by proxy the GT40 book as it was next to it on the shelf, both £6 from The Works. The Tabloid profile simply 'cos it covers the HS Schneider racer variant though does not add much to what I already have. The book on tanks is for my recently developed theme of British "Cruiser" tanks or more simply any one beginning with a C. I hope they do one on post-war tanks as they are produced with the Tank Museum are pretty authoritative.
