Hi guys,
I've been searching for this kit for years and when they come up on ebay
they fetch anything from £40 - £100 ! Which is crazy and no way would I
pay such a high price and most are damp damage resulting in the decals being ruined.
So I came up with an idea !! Why not contact Hornby/Airfix direct and see if
they will ever release this kit again and they said there are no plans to re-release
this kit, but if there are any more enquiries they will be kept on file if more enquiries
are made.
So if any of you guys would like to see the old Airfix 1/8th Honda Road Racer kit
on your local model shop shelves i suggest you contact them and tell them you
would like to see it released again. I'm sure theres hundreds like me.
Send Airfix an email

Cheers.

These were sold along time ago but you still can see them both [they went for about £200 I think !]

The demand for a Honda Road Racer was so high on the classic motorcylce modelling market
Tamiya brought out a very nice 1/6th Honda road racer in either a 50% plastic 50% metal build kit or
a metal-part built/ part-painted kit, these are quite dear though but i would still like to build
the old Airfix job :]
Part made Tamiya kit [awesome but very dear]

Re: Old Airfix 1/8th Honda Road Racer kit.
I've picked up two of the Airfix CB750 Four road bikes on eBay but admit the Road Racer is a harder find - I came close once bidding £30 when it went for about £35.00. I also have the Tamiya 1/6 road version rather than the racer - a very nice kit - one of those I am afraid to start in case I muck it up.
If Airfix did bring out the bikes again I doubt they would retail for a lot less than £40.00 but I accept the point about ageing decals etc. if handing over that much for a second hand one. The first thing I did was scan my decals and the instruction booklet in case of mishaps so at least I could get them re-printed after.
I got a part started Airfix Norton Commando from eBay for a reasonable price - it will need a bit of rebuilding but nothing too taxing. The thing that struck me was the huge box and the large amount of parts compared to the Airfix CB750 Four kit, considering they are the same scale.
I can post pictures if you are interested.
Cheers
Al.

Well guys after searching for a month i've finally got myself a mint kit for £30
off ebay, so when I get it shortly I might possibly do a 'in build' of this kit
and i'll see if I enjoy building it as much as I did thirty years ago.
Cheers.

Not a bad price for a mint version Ian, I doubt it would cost any less if Airfix re-issued it, probably quite a bit more I expect. Good job mate.

Not a bike fan but like cars, racing machines from the 50'/60's looked so much cooler than they do now.
