Why are people living outside of the UK so surprised that UK TV programs are not available to them?

Because the whole idea of the Internet is that it is not bound to boundaries. Dutch Television (not that you'd be likely to try) allows you to view the programs they put online wherever you are. BBC filters to see if your provider is in the UK, and if you're not, you can't see anything. If you as a Brit go to an Internet Cafe in say France on your holiday, you can forget watching your favourite program on iPlayer too. For a company that sells its programs on DVD and makes money that way, to me it doesn't make much sense to prevent the rest of the world from seeing those programs online.

I finally got to see this last night. It was very interesting. I especially like it when the people who were actually there told their parts of the story. Excellent!

The BBC's policy on the iplayer is that it is a facility for UK TV licence payers, as they fund the BBC.

I wish they would offer a subscription service or pay for view for those of us who aren't in the UK though. I'd sign up.

I miss most of this good stuff :frown:
