I've received a number of compliments and queries about my track-painting techniques, so I must be doing something right there.

Figure painting with oil paints. I've even got to the stage of painting metals without using metalic paints.
I like using oils even for 54mm figures
Due to the slower drying time of oils I tend to have more than one model on the go at the sane time. I prefer 1/16 scale but I have most of the Airfix 1/12 figs. (Anyone got a Show Jumper that needs a good home? )

People seem to like my hand brushing and I like to do a nice freehand line between colours. I have a love / hate thing going with canopy framing though. I like to do it freehand, but I have been known to muff it. It's a problem with visual accuity when applying the first coat. I sometimes use the mag lamp, but the reflection in the clear plastic makes the job a bit tricky. It looks great when I get it right. I experimented with giving the canopy a swift dab of mid stone and wiping it off again. This leaves a very slight deposit along the frame lines. It holds paint better and forms a decent guide. I'll photograph the technique and post some results.
So many models, so little time.
