Hmmm! not possible with the 1/35 solid bodied figures, but I do have a couple of Mini Art 1/16 hollow bodied figures for the 'One thing into another' GB......

....and I'm currently sorting through a lot of the (now grown up) kids' toys, some of which have wee wind up mechanisms.........

....and the glimmer of an idea for one of the builds I had already planned

Bummer! (also with apologies to Neil from The Young Ones) extensive research on arm rotation has shown that having a relatively straight arm turn in a complete circle without changing angle at the shoulder at some point does not look natural...and is bloody painful to attempt.

Back to the drawing board to experiment with half-wheel gears and possibly 1 active & 1 passive joint combinations

For the Compact Diorama GB, .
Two guys, hundreds of miles from home in a hostile environment, take a break from being ordered to kill each other to get sentimental listening to the same song. (The compression of distance between the dugouts until there is nothing between them is not just for convenience, it's also a metaphor)

Started this Hase 1/72 Intruder for a Desert Storm GB.
Old 60s mould reboxed in the 90s, showing it's age with flash and rough edges...quite nice externally, but Mother Hubbards cockpit.

Good stuff going on as per usual PT and that is a brilliant painting. I've never got beyond being able to paint stick men myself :ha:

Incredible figure work! Really nice action in the poses. Wish I could do figures like that to liven up my models. How long have you been modifying and painting figures? How do you make them look so natural! :-D

Beautiful!

Paul, I've seen your Gladiator and Beaver ( ...if you'll pardon the expression! ) if you were to add natural looking figures to that equation, the rest of as may as well pack up and go home!
Seriously though, I started doing figures many years ago but with several lengthy gaps and changes of preferred subject. I have a large stash of 1/32 and 1/35 figure parts and rarely make any figure now from one kit or figure option.
Main tips for figures,
Faces - Less is more. sometimes all that is needed is some shading below brows, nose and lower lip.
Only ever paint top lip a reddish brown wash. You are painting to emphasise a shadow rather than painting a colour.
Give all clothing (apart from leather) a coat of matt varnish. Often I've seen excellently detailed figures lessened in effect by being shiny and toy-like.
Hope that helps!

Thank you for the tips, I will try to summon up the courage to give it a try. Do you use acrylics , oils or enamels? If you use more than one, do you have a preference and why?

As I said before, I love the action in your poses.

Cheers :-D

For clothes and equipment, Acrylics and pastel chalks rubbed in to add highlights or wear. I very rarely add whites of eyes below 1/25 scale, and if I do I add a tint of cream or pink to make them less stark as guys outdoors or in combat would usually be narrowing their eyes against sunlight.
(Unless it is a winter scene) For flesh I use a Vallejo colour a bit darker than generic flesh paint (No number on the bottle and I can't remember the description, I just judged from the chart on the paint rack.) Once covered, I rub white pastel into forehead, nose, top of cheekbones, moustache area and chin. Sometimes I'll do these areas with the Vallejo 'Darker flesh' mixed in varying shades with normal flesh.
A watercolour pencil can do almost as good a job and has the advantage of being a bit more precise.
