Paul's Attempts
Re: Paul's Attempts
The smoke ring decals are all on! Even when just applying decals it takes a while. Right side kit decals are also applied. Unfortunately, I should have painted on the white tail stripe. The kit was a used buy and somewhat old. Although the decals went on, they seemed to have lost some of their stickiness and they are also somewhat transparent. I had to sit them in the window for a while to brighten them up (Thanks Shaun). You can make out the smoke ring decals under the white stripe. Oh well, left side to go then I can do the top coat and wash.
Cheers,

Re: Paul's Attempts
I am almost done the 202. I have only to add the antenna. That being said I could easily see blobbing the CA on the fuselage trying to add it!

Beautiful work!
Best wishes

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

The decals really made it possible for me Greg. I could not have airbrushed them. Cheers.dollar19 wrote:Very ,very nice Paul! You made a great effort with the decals and it shows. I'd but proud to have that on my shelf!

Thank you Shaun. When you get around to doing your 202 I would be really careful with the decals. They are quite delicate until you get a top coat on them. You can see on the wing leading edge and other places where the decals rubbed off from handling. That being said it is easy to reapply another decal over top if required without building up a thick layer. Oddly enough, it does not look bad even where they have rubbed off.ShaunW wrote:The Macchi really has turned out very well indeed, Paul and nicely displayed on that base. Top work

You could call that paint erosion.

The longer I work on a model the more areas get rubbed off.

Re: Paul's Attempts
Not much change since the last post. I only added the antenna so I guess she is done. It was a fun build with deepening and adding detail to the the wheel wells and cockpit. I also enjoyed pre-shading. I was not sure at the time if it was worth the effort but I have to say, it was not hard at all and I really liked the subtle effect it gives. Mike Grant's smoke ring decals were a life saver here.
