These USN birds! I like them. The Slufs are just yummy and the Scooters not far behind. Quite an inspirational series.

Cheers Marek, the SLUF and Scooter may be at opposite ends of the beauty scale but the Gull Gray USN schemes are eyecatching.

Away from my pet project to catalogue the VA-46 tartan variations I've got this figure conversion going on -

Oh no! :) Where is SLUF/Scooter production line? Did you off-source it to a private racing company and a rock band? :)

Werners 14th birthday. Berlin 1945

Image

One from the Figures GB, converted from a 1/20 Tamiya Motorsport Team tyre changing guy. Helmet from a Tamiya 1/16 German field officer (So that it would look ridiculously large on the boy) Rifle and panzerfaust scratched in 1/16.
The approaching T34 is a picture photocopied onto clear acetate to look like a reflection in the glass of the door.

Brilliant interpretation and execution PT; he looks extremely nervous to say the least!
Best wishes

I thought that the helmet made Werner look more adult, so I took a photo without it and the general consensus on the GB thread was that he looked better without so here it is.
The only thing is that I had to exaggerate the facial highlights to compensate for the helmets shadow. It's probably going to bug me enough to blend it more at some point.

Cheers chaps,
The Figures GB isn't finished yet and I still have 'The main Feature' to finish but I have to crow about snapping up another Monogram 1/48 Scooter on Ebay. The first one of this that I did a couple of years back, I changed the a/c number to that of an ex VA-46 squadron member I have been corresponding with. Unfortunately I was using a photo of a Squadron blackboard as a reference for Daves a/c side number and Bureau number. Wouldn't you know it, Daves a/c was the only one in the Squadron with the Stars 'n' bars at the rear in the later style. Now I can rectify that and do another in the more common configuration. :-D

.......I'm still on the lookout for a 1/48 Hobbycraft A-4B and A-4C though!

Werner is a great piece of figure conversion from the F1 figure that it originally started life as, PT. I agree that the final version without the helmet makes the figure appear more youthful and your handling of the facial expression puts across a feeling of fear and desperation. Wonderful work.
