Cheers Darryl, I think we'll both be at our respective Navy projects for a while yet..I've just unearthed my virginal Fujimi A-7 .....and another couple of SLUFS, Esci and Heller that had been languishing in my own little Davis Monthan boneyard waiting for technology to progress to the stage where I could make the required decals for them
Also found, a sheet of clear decal sheet and a downloadable font suitable for USN lettering. :-D

As I was making up tartan decals for my Scooter factory I finally got around to making the last of the markings needed for this shelf queen. The nose probe and one of the nose wheel doors are missing, so the probe seen here is actually the exhaust pipe of a Hawker Demon!

Nice looking cougar, PT.

The A-4 Lineup is very attractive too.

Thank you kind sir, They'll look better individually when I can really show the various tartan markings, my big regret is that the only suitable VA-46 Skyhawk kits available now in 1/48 are E's and the Clansmen only used them for a few months until the Forrestal fire when they lost most of them, converting to B's on return to the States in the interim to their planned change to Corsairs

I find it interesting that you are building multiple same family models sharing a common theme. Not being a jet guy, I wonder if the obvious nose differences on the A-4's are fairly accurate or if they are the manufacturers take on the subject.
I suppose that by using the assembly line approach, you would soon know who makes the better kit.

I've certainly got a mixed bag of offerings from various makers. I have four A-4s, 2 Fujimi 'C's a Fujimi 'B' and an Esci 'E') with plans to get a couple of Airfix 'B's. They are all excellent representations but the particular 'E' that I'm doing had no black anti dazzle panel in front of the canopy, which makes the nose shape look different to other 'E's.

On the Corsair front I have 8 in progress, most of them recently recovered from the Shelf of shame. (3 Fujimis, 1 'E' and 2 'B';
2 Esci, 1 'B' and 1 'E'
2 Revell 'B's
and a Heller 'E'
The Fujimis are the best looking and detailed but with a fiddly intake. The Esci's are nicely etched but have a blocked off intake trunking which is annoying. The Heller is reasonable but has raised etching. As for the Revell 'B'......ummm.......the decals are nice!

Oh yes, some SLUFs and in the classic USN/USMC gull grey over white. Very nice, PT.

Cheers Shaun, you going to Go Navy with your next build? go on, you know you want to! :-D

The first of the individual portraits - The Fujimi A-4C in the McKenzie tartan markings of VA-46 as seen on the USS Shangri la in 1965. The Bullpup missile is to commemorate that VA-46 were the first squadron to fire a live Bullpup.

Love the USN theme. Seems neglected lately, and you are making up for it single-handed.

Cheers chaps, The Bird Farm is temporarily sidelined as there is a Figures GB on the go and my brain is working overtime, well, faster than I can produce the goods anyway!
