Re: X12A's 1.2 sq ft
Pretty much the same...
I used to build stuff in my car during my lunch breaks at work. It's amazing what you can get done in such a small space.

Nice one Stuart, glad its not just me - although I do try and run a business from this space too!
That magnifying device looks quite good, I may have to invest in one of those.

Modelling and running a business from the same small space must get exciting at times!
My bench is about a similar size; the storage of all the essential ancillary equipment and materials however takes up considerably more space and seems to be growing...

Not sure which one detracts from the other the most.
Re: X12A's 1.2 sq ft
My old modeling desk was 70x40 cm. Not great for building bigger scale models. Filled up quickly with just a few paint points and modelling utencils.

Re: X12A's 1.2 sq ft
Well I've finally got round to having a look through a box of my stuff that's been in the garage for about 5 yrs, before that it had been at my parents since I left home in 1982. In said box, I came across an envelope post marked Nov 1979, it contained the items below along with the badge - I must admit I'm quite looking forward to getting my 12p off.

Re: X12A's 1.2 sq ft
I make my models on this:
(30 x 23 cm), and have done so for 50+ years. Well actually for about 20 years when I was much younger and the last 11 since I started modelling again. Like Jim I also have some storage space, but that is limited as fortunately I only need room for paints and materials for scratch building, so most of it is in a small cupboard which is not much larger than my tray!

Your collection of paints would fill my space. I make my models on this:

Very nice, and good start. I´m no expert on bi-planes, but it looks like a floater.

I notice I couldn't use them in Woolworth's - this obviously led to their demise!JamesPerrin wrote: ↑November 5th, 2023, 4:48 pm Don't go crazy and spend it all at once. The "good old days" (TM)
