Re: Cameronian's Hideaway
Cheers. Next time I've got a kit to do I must try a build sequence, make me work slower which is no bad thing.

Amazing figures. I think your build sequence is just right.

Re: Cameronian's Hideaway
There's rather more to it than I'm used to:
Could easily be no country for an old man. So in between wee guys on horses...

Re: Cameronian's Hideaway
That looks a nice kit, and a brutal looking machine too!
I'm sure if you take it steady it'll come good for you, and anybody who can produce figure work like yours ain't gonna be troubled by a (scale) lump of metal.....

Re: Cameronian's Hideaway
We'll see. What's already obvious is that I'll have to adopt an entirely different methodology to my usual; which is assemble it, prime it and paint it.
From what I gather from the instructions it seems to be a series of sub-assemblies brought together to form the whole 'copter. So it looks like prime and paint the components on the sprues, detach and assemble and lay by until the fuselage is complete and painted, then continue with assembly. The decals are another matter, they may have to be applied a bit at a time and treated. It's all certainly going to take a while.

Re: Mi 28 Havoc
Some progress:
Chin cannon assembled and primed, fuselage primed and flighdeck completed.
This may not be as formidable a job as I first thought after all

Yeah, I can see a problem in where I'm going to keep the thing.

Re: Cameronian's Hideaway
Some more progress:
Where have those clamps been all my life?
Issues so far:
Part C8 (which basically just blocks a hole) too thick for its seating, filed it down
Tail pylon not drilled for the tail rotor shaft C9, done and done
Clear bits D3 and D4 are tiny so are devils to fit (likely my failing eyesite), being clear it's also a bit tricky to properly identify which way round they go
Extra care in handling will now be required with thin sticky-out bits fitted at front and back.
Sadly I'll have to leave it at that until I get the wee guys on horses finished before the limit of my attention span is reached with them. Having said that, there are plenty of sub-assemblies can be fitted in for the Havoc.

Re: Cameronian's Hideaway
Modern attack helicopters certainly aren't pretty but they do make for interesting modelling subjects IMHO. Good start with it.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.
