Just like a butterfly me, flitting backward and forward. I went down the wrong route umpteen years ago with the figures and went for too many periods and too many scales. Now I'm temporarily stuck playing catch-up building opposition forces for armies I did long ago. Kits were what I did in the past and I'd like to get back to it. However in the meantime I have to soldier on but there is light at the end of the tunnel

Interesting stuff, age of sail and a nice looking collection of mounted figures.

Cheers. Back to the Victory to get a bit more done before the next lot of figures arrives.

The Victory is more or less painted and been given a coat of varnish to protect it during handling. She now awaits the first piece of string; she'll have to wait as the figures have arrived, so I'm moving on to prepping them. Never a dull moment ;-)

The Victory now has her standing rigging complete. Much more straightforward than I imagined, teaching myself how to tie a miniature clove hitch cracked it!

Problems:
  • - had started the rigging when I discovered I had glued the bowsprit on upside down DOH!
    - replaced the rear bottom sail assembly (mizzen course, spanker, etc.) kit parts just didn't look right
    - flimsy masts make maintaining tension on all the various rigging elements difficult
    - maybe too much rigging for such a small model even at this stage with plenty more potentially to come, may need to start leaving bits out
    - the shiny bit is a 1/32 brass rod used to brace the mizzen mast and get tension on the forward rigging
