Thanks Shaun, they are PE and you're correct, they're to give the pilot a quick visual indication of orientation.

Migrant, I hope you won't mind me drawing attention to this, but I just came across your article in the May 2017 edition of Airfix Model World! The completed model is truly amazing, inspirational work, and the article and photos explain your process very clearly!

Mike, your work is so sharp it hurts my eyes! The Zlin Z-50 looked amazing but when I got down to the Tamiya bottle! Gorgeous, just gorgeous!

Loving the Rapide too. It has such nice lines.

I'm flabbergasted.
