Still loving the interior work on the Herc, fantastic job Paul!
Best wishes

Amazing looking 202! These decals worked like a charm.

Both the 202 and the AC-130 are jaw droppingly good - Nice work!

Thank you all.

Work slowed to a crawl. I experimented various ways to try to model a convincing spinning prop but it never looked good so I am going to just use the kit props. Felt like a big waste of time but I guess that is how you learn what to do. Or in this case what not to do.

Decals, what little there are are on, cockpit masking is off and although masking the windows was a bugger, it turned out OK. Flaps are on but need painting.

Excellent work Paul. I know what you mean about the props. The one I like is the last photo of the of the "clear" disc without the yellow. The position and look of the flaps are spot on and if I may post a photo I took a few years ago I think adds to the proof this is a great build.

Even without it finished your Herc looks the part.
Cheers

Your prop blurs looked pretty good to me!

Maybe add 5 lines of matt varnish and remove 5 corresponding bits of yellow as Ian's picture shows?
Best wishes

This is coming together very nicely, Paul. I've never made prop blurs myself but I think your efforts look pretty good. Looking at the photo, Iggie's suggestion might well be worth a punt.

Hey Paul! I think you're being too hard on yourself. The spinning prop effect looks pretty darned good to me. Also, the view of the interior through the ramp looks amazing! Nice job!

Thank you Sunray. I was trying for something like the Herc you posted here. I just could not get it to work. In real life the disk looks muddy and dull. I went with the regular props in the end.

Thanks Iggie. I didn't try the matt varnish (I should have) but I tried a gloss. It did not work out as it just turned the disks into lenses which looked really weird and warped the view through it. I ran out of gas and stopped experimenting. Maybe next time.

Thank you Fred. Unfortunately, the camera seems to see the disk differently than in person.

Well, I guess I am calling this one done. I ran out of gas really. I laid on the flat clear too thick and it produced little white dots and fuzz in the finish. It always looks dusty! Lots of orange peel when I painted the overall grey.

Not much to see in the back but it was still fun building it.

Now, onto a new kit with a fresh start! So much potential in a box! :-D

Lack of steam at the end or not, that's a fabulous build with some great scratch building skills applied......excellent job!

Wonderful looking gunship! I’ve been following along and not posting much. The other guys beat me to the accolades. You really do have yourself a fine Herk there.

It looks good from here, Paul. I'm my own worst critic when it comes to my builds but I try not to dwell too much on the downsides (and there always are some issues  ) but move on with some anticipation - I agree, there is much potential in the next box of plastic!
