Nice work. As for the LED lights, with each car in it's own space, wouldn't you need 17 lights?

Very classy Mike, that is a really excellent display of your Alfas.

Yes, I would need 17, but I have a spare set of 20 LED Christmas lights that I could run off a small power block

Having had a chance to sit back and look at it, I think I may do away with each cars plastic stand and replace it with a new plate so that the cars are angled up slightly at the back

Time for a new build I think

Image

This came the other week but I have been too busy with school to do anything with it

Image

Comes with a free mini poster

Image

Kit is made in China and dated 2013 not too bad for flash but the plastic is very hard and brittle, thought I may have to break out the acetone but liquid poly seems to work OK

Image

Transfer sheet looks very good

Put all of the white sub assemblies together so that the glue can harden over night, they all went together with no fit issues at all :)

Image

Dug out my rebuilt/repaired 1974 Dinky issue for size comparison mpc much bigger but less detail out of the box

Image

Side pods ready for assembly

Image

Everything will now be left to set overnight now

From the look of it, this is an easy assembly kit but the devil will be in the painting

Nice work so far. A very nice subject. Like you say, it's the paintwork that will bring it all to life.

Just caught up with this, love the Alfa display case, a great bit of DIY, I'd recommend fitting LED strips underneath or behind each car, or even above, you can get self adhesive LED strip and it can be cut down to about 10cm lengths, you'll just need a bit of soldering skill to fix new wires on the strips.

Nice one! I remember watching Space: 1999 as a kid with my cousins. Pretty sure they blew up more Eagles in the opening credits than they did all season.

Sorry - work keeps getting in the way, Half term now so...

Image

Main body painted - I used white plasticote undercoat for this as it gives a good coverage

Image

A bit of detail painting and ready to start decalling - I have read that these are difficult to apply, we shall see

Image

Pods done - you need to cut them very close to the edges and soak them a bit longer than normal, but with the use of future as a setting solution they went on fine, just a bit of touch up to do

Space:1999 was one of my favourite shows in the 70's and it's great to see an Eagle being built. There is a strong chance that this is the same kit as was marketed by Airfix, certainly it looks very similar from here.

Love the Eagle, I fancy once but get heart palpitations at nearly £30. I was at a toy fair at New Year and those Dinky Eagles were going for £225 in the box. Mine ended up buried in the garden somewhere with my Batmobile

That looks great Mike but £30 a pop is stretching towards my self-imposed tightwad upper budget limit for kits. I do have a 70's Airfix one in a carrier bag that needs a refurb though and which gives me food for thought.......
