Sissel's Flabbergasted Mayhem
So, here we are again, after almost two years break or something like that. Time flies!
I'm gonna get back to building as soon as this infection is over.
So where are we at? Here's the models I was working on before I quit, and their current state back then.
AMT/ERTL Ford Victoria '56
AMT/ERTL Ford Fairlane '57
Hawker Typhoon Mk Ib
Hawker Hurricane Mk I
Pyro Bentley Blower Le Mans (got this cheap in a bundle pack on Ebay, kit came started like in photo below)
Before I start anything else, I will finish these. Looking forward to get into the world of plastic again. And if things go as planned, there will be a small extension to the house next year, with my very own modelling room (and not a combo guest bedroom/modelling room as is now). Yay!
The modelling room/guest room is very empty, so need to dig things out of closets, drawers and cabinets. So I better start clean something out and make the bench messy again.
Rusty I am, and will probably continue with the new tool Airfix kits. Just what I need for an "easy start". See ya soon!

Good to have you back. Really great project gong on. Like the 56 Ford especially.
Besting 60 years of mediocre building of average kits in the stand off scale

Re: Sissel's Flabbergasted Mayhem
Thanks Jeff and David.
I also appear to have a rattle can painted blue Monogram Chevy Impala convertible. Amazing what you find stacked about in a closet.
Digging out the Fairlane, I notice parts of the white has yellowed. The picture (thanks light) doesn't show how yellow it really is.
This was spraypainted with a Tamiya can. The hood is perfect white though. Weird? I've no clue how to fix this. Overspray? I'm done with rattle cans and will later at a point start airbrushing, so I'll overspray with airbrush. Or do I "gulp" need to strip the paint first? Cheating trying to fix with a hairy stick will likely end in disaster and just thick paint over. There is also a gloss layer on top of the paint.

What did you use for the gloss coat? That might be what has yellowed.
Oh, and welcome back!

Re: Sissel's Flabbergasted Mayhem
Cheers, Paul.
I can't remember make or name, but it's for plastic, real cars, metal etc. Bought in an autoshop here.
I've used it on the other cars and they are fine, I've also used it on cars I build in the past, and no yellowing on the white there. The funny thing is the hood and the back of the car is fine. It would make more sense to me if all the white was about even yellow, but it's just these places.
Offcourse I can't remember, but I may have added more gloss on those areas, thinking it looked more matt than rest of car. That may be it. I'm not sure.

Hi Sissel - glad to see some new Mayhem from you.
So exactly how much dust is on everything? And have you warmed the room up yet?
Looking forward to seeing you find your feet again!
Cheers
Stuart

Will the yellow polish back to white?
Try polishing it using tooth paste as that has very fine abrasives in it and will only take off a very fine layer.

My work bench is starting to look like Portsmouth Naval Dockyard.

I cleaned the room and dusted it. Found some of my missing cd's there. Oven was put on, door open so warmth from the fireplace downstairs will come up.
Some of the boxes on top of the closet had a bit of dust on! But to my excuse, haven't had a guest in there since Christmas.
Alan, tooth paste?! I haven't touched the model yet, but I will definitely try that. Thanks. Just need to make beef tenderloin tacos first.

Welcome back!
Is that Pyro Bentley the same as the Airfix one? I built the Airfix one in my distant youth.
cheers,
David

Thanks guys, appreciated, and it's good to be back!
I honestly have no clue, David. I'm not familiar with either kit. But it could be. Both kits have green plastic.
