Nicely grotified, GMG. The Dora is a great looking fighter, the longer fuselage making it more elegant than the A-series machines IMHO.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Cheers fellas, thanks! I agree Shaun the long nosed Dora was aesthetically more balanced than the A models, but I am a fan of the whole breed. I actually like the Ta-152H most of all. But not in this scale! I hope to have proper rollout pics soon. After that I may park it out front and hang a 'for sale to a good home' sign on its propellor. I heard that Flugwerk were making a Dora replica that will have an Allison V-1710 engine. Would love to see that fly.

Cheers, thanks. An Italian fighter soon to sport markings of the Royal Egyptian Air Force with RAF style desert scheme. Although it is far from factual, the subject is exotic, too. Might even paint a shark's mouth around that huge bath at the front as well. :-D

That scheme really suits the Macchi, GMG and it's going to make for an interesting whiff. I agree, that chin radiator is made for a shark's mouth!

Thanks fellas. In my increasing tendency to change tack on these sorts of things I decided to make it a bit less of a whiff and removed the big chin radiator as it was only mounted on an MC.202D prototype, and installed the smaller one that the Folgore usually carried instead. The aircraft looks odd with it blocking the main one behind. I ought to have painted or decalled in the wing stripes as now it has gotten a bit fussy and needs to be touched up. Hopefully it will be at least mostly done by the weekend.

So what is the basis of the Macchi? It is looking very smart already.

Apparently the Italians sold a few to the Egyptians and were going to sell more till the Mossad bombed the factory. The Macchis mostly came off second best against the Israelis during the '48/'49 war. Good fighters though. And now for the wax...
