A Kit Bashers Bench

Post by celt »

Since August 2014, these are the 1/72-1/76 armour models I have completed.I dont consider myself an armour modeller but I have more luck completing them than aircraft.

These are the other kits I made in the same time period.Airfix 1/72 Higgins Boat,Tamiya 1/48 Dingo and Hasegawa 1/72 Mirage F1.The Mirage was a gift from a friend and had no decals in the box.

And these two Tamiya 1/35 British tanks are in a clean condition because I have a plan to make a museum diorama. Well we all no what happens to plans.

I have made a start by priming the frames with acrylic paint. I have not done 1/144 scale in years, and my chubby fingers are not the best tools for such a small scale but at £1.25, why not give it a go. :???:

Nice display. Really like your bases. Simple and do not distract from the good modeling.

I have started to put this mini beast together, I forgotten how small 1/144 can be.

Not long after this picture was taken the inevitable happened.

Chubby fingers strike again.
I was cleaning up the wings ready to attach them to the body later and the knife slipped and sliced my finger

After cleaning up the bench[due to my little slip with the knife], the wings, tailplanes, fins and pylons are on and the model is primed ready for the paintshop.

Some great work going on here Celt and I particularly like your armour collection (as well as aircraft my other modelling passion is military vehicles) and that is a great use for coasters - I'll have to try liberating some of our older ones for my small scale tanks without the wife noticing :ha:
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Work is the curse of the modelling classes!

Thanks ShaunW, who needs to buy bases when coasters do the job quite well :) They are big enough for most WW2 armour and the finish on the ones I use dont need painting. :)

While the main body primer coat is drying, I painted the ancillary parts on the frame with various Humbrol acrylics and an oil wash. The oil wash did not work too well.
