Thanks, Marek. I'll check the widths when I get home from work.

Re: Softscience Labs 2.5
More avenger work from last night. Squadron.com still hasn't gotten me the canopy masks, because evidently it takes more than two weeks to send a nearly flat piece of vinyl sheet across half of the US. Also because they're awful and I'll never order from them again!
Anyway, while I continue to wait, I have decided to begin painting from the bottom up. I used Tamiya white primer spray for the white bits. Here is the fuselage. Wings/gear were painted this way too.
I closed the bomb bay, as there wasn't much detail in there, and I didn't feel like messing around with it.
For a USN tricolor scheme, should the color demarcation be abrupt or gradual?

Most pics of Avengers in the tri-colour scheme that I've seen appear to have soft edge demarcations between the colours, Ralph. As always there could be exceptions though so it could be worth your while to check on Google Images to see if there are any photos of the actual aircraft that you are modelling.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Re: Softscience Labs 2.5
I got the intermediate blue on. It was really hard to do a soft edge between such high contrast colors. Every wayward speck of blue or white paint shines like a beacon in the night!
So it's a hardish edge. Matter of fact, it probably needs some touch-up.
I still don't have my canopy masks, but might paint the dark sea blue uppers sans canopy for now. It seems to fit pretty well, so should be no problem installing it after painting.

That went quicker than anticipated. Will play around with color variations after the canopy is on and painted.
The eagle eyed may have noticed that I lost the big radio box. Fell out when I dropped the kit. No clue where it went :(

She looks sweet. I could not see it earlier but did you do pre-shading on it? The fuselage has some nice variations.

Very nice indeed, Ralph. Looks like you've been indulging in a bit of cool looking shading from here too and you've achieved some nice tight looking demarcations twixt the colours.

I really like the colours on this Avenger. You have a good demarkation boundary in my opinion - nothing to worry about there.
An interesting and varied choice of subjects too.

Re: Softscience Labs 2.5
Thanks for the encouragement, guys.
This weekend I finally got my masks and painted the canopies.
(Looks like I need a blast of blue at the base of this side again.)
I know they're considered cheating, but I'm glad I had them. Some of these frames are really hard to mask.
Even with laser cuts, these didn't turn out perfectly. Though it's rude to look at a 1/72 kit from this close, as youre bound to see things you don't want to see

Just a quick update. Decals are on.
In the back is Tamiya M1 Abrams, which I've been working on and off again for the past few years.Just laid down the NATO green

The Avenger is really coming to life now the markings are going on. I've never used a masking set for canopies but certainly on a multi-framed glasshouse like the Avenger's I can appreciate how useful such a set could be! The Abrams is one of my favourite tanks. That said, the last one I finished on here (the old Tamiya 1/35th early version) took over 15 years to finally finish

Re: Softscience Labs 2.5
Finished base coating the Abrams. It looks all shiney and fake for now, but the next few steps should bring out its tank-like nature
I also finished the glazing over-coats on the TBM. A little too much???

The Avenger looks suitably worn, and nice paint on the Abrams.
