I'm going to spray a fine mist of the dark blue here and there to diminish a few spots. Especially around the motor.

I've never used a masking set for canopies but certainly on a multi-framed glasshouse like the Avenger's I can appreciate how useful such a set could be! The Abrams is one of my favourite tanks. That said, the last one I finished on here (the old Tamiya 1/35th early version) took over 15 years to finally finish

I didn't know you build armor. Any photos?
Yes, I have a roughly 50/50 interest in building aircraft and military vehicles although I have to admit that aircraft have taken precedence of late due to commitments to display building for the CBK SIG. Alas I don't have any current pics of my armour builds that I have displayed on here over the years as they were on Photobucket and PB ain't getting $400 out of me!!
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Excellent work on the Avenger and that Abrams looks fantastic in its NATO scheme.

Things are slowing down on the TBM. I'm at the stage where I usually screw up my models. There are already some imperfections in the paint job, and so knowing that the result will be less than how I envisioned it, I'm getting a bit careless.

So I'm slowing down and only working on things when the mood is just right.

Last night I began the Yagi aerials. Hasegawa gives you just the main branch (because lets face it, they really kind of suck at providing detail per dollar spent). I stretched some sprue to make the rest of the "limbs"

I cut the sprue bits overly long, and was just careful to glue them at the approximately correct intervals from each-other.

Once the glue has set a bit, I trimmed them to size by just laying a #11 blade across all of them at once; ensuring equal lengths on all.

I'm going to let things dry more then 24 hours, and then will paint them white.

They're not super precise, but they look right enough.

Put the tbm away as I was starting to rush and get sloppy. Over the weekend I made my way forward (literally) on the hellcat.

Hang in there, Ralph!
Good move, avoiding the rush on the TBM.

Cheers,

Hi again.

First basecoat of Tamiya sea blue is on the hellcat. Very dark and lifeless for now. The next few coats of paint lightened with blues and whites will being it to life.

A little better already. This is just a thin translucent overspray of the base coat with some light blue added.

Thanks.

Now with decals. Minus the tiny stencils, which I don't think I'll be adding.

No good will come from this. Youre like the dolphin who likes to swim with a school of tuna :)
