Re: Softscience Labs 2.5
I used Tamiya extra thin cement which is very 'hot' and twisted the leg while the glue first softened the plastic and then set it hard in the new alignment. Once I was happy with it, I built up the top of the leg with a couple of blobs of superglue. So far no probs!
Best wishes
Jim
If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

Re: Softscience Labs 2.5
A little more defiant, now.
Almost finished, just need to build up the turret. The black gizmo at the bottom of the photo is all the interior guts. Airfix gives you a ton of detail. It is pretty great, as I've never known how a power turret worked, but seeing the components gives me a pretty good idea.
Airfix, fun AND educational!

Thanks, Shaun.
Anybody know if the two ventral aerials on the Defiant were connected by a wire antenna?

Re: Softscience Labs 2.5
Defiant seems pretty convoluted machine for a early war fighter.

Good idea, Henry!
The Defiant is essentially finished. Needs some cleanup and touching-up. I hope to do that and post some nice photos on Saturday.

You have made a really great job of that Defiant Ralph and I look forward to seeing the glamour shots!

Re: Softscience Labs 2.5
The Aerospace publication of "British Warplanes of WWII" has many photos, including in-flight photos with the two masts extended. No antenna wire can be seen in any. Incidentally, one night-fighter Mk.II photo shows only the forward ventral mast; no sign of another.Softscience wrote:Anybody know if the two ventral aerials on the Defiant were connected by a wire antenna?
cheers,

It amazes me how you can work on more than one model at a time and still produce great work,I can only just manage one at a time and still muck it up.

Re: Softscience Labs 2.5
Thanks much, guys.
With Defiant off the bench, its time to go back to the Corsair. Since the whole thing is going to be in blue, I decided now was a good time to stick on the wheel legs, and bay covers. Hobbyboss includes a good deal of detail here, and it all fits very nicely. I painted it all a very dark blue (almost black), the outer surfaces of the plane will be painted lighter blue, and then everything will be overpainted in dark sea blue, to give it some tonal variation.
I hope it works!
I also testfit one of the folded wings. Seems pretty sturdy, but I can see why they used braces on the real thing.
More soon.
