This is top work, Ralph, a seriously good trio of models taking shape and I really like the weathering on the '109 and Eindekker - some paintwork that is!

I love that Nieuport. The paintwork on the 109 is excellent and the weathering on the Endekker is spot on.

Superbly convincing weathering on that 109 and the Nieuport is intimidatingly good, but at the same time makes me want to dig my N.11 out and attempt to get it looking half as good.

Fun fact: Mr. Mark Softer and Airfix decals do not play well together.

Aaargh! Mr Mark looks like it is too hot for Airfix's decals and that is a real shame, Ralph. I found the decals in my recent new tool Spitfire build were not too brilliant, although they didn't react as badly as that to Microscale solutions - they just didn't react period and wouldn't pull down tightly over the detail.

Yeah, predicting the chemistry of any particular decal set is always a shot in the dark.

It isn't the end of the world though. I was able to sand off the gunky bits and will repaint the missing parts. Won't be perfect, but my models never are.

That's frustrating. Also, I guess we have different definitions of "fun".

I'm sure I commented on this while we were away, but obviously the internet decided otherwise!

That's rotten luck with the decals reaction to the setting solution; I must admit I only ever use Revell decal fluid, which seems to be pretty mild. I have some micro-sol stuff but never had to use it yet!

I've never used anything other than hot water and decalfix - but I'm sorry to see that, rotten luck.

That Neuport is fantastic!
