And in shiny red plastic, I see. Do you think that perhaps indicates the market it's aimed at?

Thanks, everyone!

Oddly enough - no, Daz! This is a Level 3 kit, which according to the Revell website:

"3-Advanced-Paint and Glue needed-Ages 12 and up

Skill Level 3 kits are our most advanced kits and offer an appropriate level of detail and authenticity. Frequently extra parts are also supplied for multiple building versions. We suggest the builder have some previous model building experience before tackling a Skill Level 3 kit due to the complexity of some of the assemblies and/or the multiple color painting schemes needed."

So, we more experienced modellers have to put up with awful red plastic and all the attendant hassle.... I guess the good news is that the forthcoming 'standard' Hawk will probably be moulded in grey, which will make everyone's life easier!

I see your point about the level of complexity. Maybe it's an environmentally friendly way for us experienced modellers to save paint ;-)

The grey styrene standard Hawk might be one to look out for though.

It doesn't save paint at all. First, I had to prime everything so I could see what I was doing, then I had to re-prime it after all the filling and sanding, Then I had to paint it red again, using two coats of course to get even coverage. Its an absolute pain.

I assume their standard Hawk will be in grey, but perhaps it'll be in dark green or brown....

Cheers, Mike. 8-)

Sycamores were typical 'limited run' IM kits - care needed, extra clean-up and fettling required. Generally very good; I found no significant issues with construction, or with accuracy. I can't say too much, as they are mag reviews. ;-)

Very nice builds Paul. I especially like the Hawk and Sycamores. The work on the glass is impressive. I find limited run kit glazing inconsistent and difficult to get a smooth transition but you have done it really well.
