Ratch's workbench 2017
Re: Ratch's workbench 2017
Here's the finished article
with a couple of 1/76 vehicles to give it scale
and with my other two Bellona bases
the one on the left is sort of Napoleonic with the broken guns and limbers moulded into the base, while the one on the right is a small trench section.
I packed the undersides of the other bases with expanding polystyrene foam (like plumbers use) and this worked pretty well (though a bit expensive).
Whilst not designed to 'interlock' I guess they could be used as war-gaming terrains

Nicely done, Ratch. Those would make great bases for general pics of completed models as well as for dios.
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

Re: Ratch's workbench 2017
You're right Shaun, and thanks for looking in
The next batch of figures to be restored/renovated are these, the 1st Battalion, 23rd Regiment of Foot (Royal Welsh Fusiliers) - 4 Esci (Grenadier and Light Company) with 16 Airfix 01745 (Centre Companies)
The two figures on the left are the Esci ones I'm using for the Grenadiers - a trooper and an ensign carrying the rather small King's Colours
The two kneeling figures on the right will form the Light Company

Love your bases Ratch, and as Shaun says they would make nice sets for photos.

Seconded (or thirded I suppose...); either way, good work and something I need to do a few of!Clashcityrocker wrote:Love your bases Ratch, and as Shaun says they would make nice sets for photos.

More great figure work, Ratch. These Napoleonic figures make for an attractive display, much more so than modern uniform colours - Disrupted Pattern Material is no match for the thin red line!

You certainly get a lot of detail in your figures Ratch. I like the groupings you display them in too.

Nice work Ratch. I like your simple but effective approach to model making. I think sometimes we overcomplicate things when model making. I'm certainly guilty of that!

Re: Ratch's workbench 2017
Thanks very much guys. I'm still an impatient kid at heart, lacking the skills and refinements that you guys display But for me its about how I enjoy my modelling. I know my limitations (though I do try to develop new skills), and I try not to set myself targets that are too high. Procrastination is the thief of time, so I try to draw a line and complete a build rather than continually go back and change things. That may seem like an odd thing to say, given that most of these figures have been re-works, but when I painted them 20-30 years ago, I knew much less about uniforms and Waterloo than I do now - so they're more like corrections to my previous mistakes
