I have to say the instructions from Heller do hark back to a simpler time.....only one make of paint, one glue, if the paint colour needed wasn't at hand, use the next nearest....ah well, progress is progress I suppose!
Anyhoo, we're done with the two builds for the 'One for the Books' GB:
The Heller D510 was a lovely little kit to build, the only slight trouble was getting the multi-part undercarriage to set correctly but it was no worse than any similar u/c would be from any other manufacturer so no real drama. Thankfully the comic cover shows no registration lettering etc, so my first ever painted markings
So to recreate the cover, I mounted both aircraft on lengths of sprue, bent to the approximate angle required and glued into holes drilled into the underside of each fuselage. The posts were then stuck into a block of oasis, placed in front of my PC monitor, with the edited cover provided by PT behind; simples!
I then airbrushed out the posts using the Canon Digital Photo Professional software I use to sharpen shots taken with my 'big' camera and this is the result:
