Re: iggie's modelling table
Thanks Guys The Vosper will go into the cabinet next to my RAF Rescue Launch, where one day they will be joined by the Airfix MTB and (one day even later....) the S-!00 'E-Boat'. I have a Griffon Models PE set for the latter and it promises to turn the build into a lengthy one to do it justice!
Not sure what is going to be next up; I had thought to tackle the Revell Condor (new tool) after seeing the magnificent build of the old tool version by Vacant, but.....I'll go out to the stash later and have a ponder and a fondle of some plastic and see what inspiration occurs

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

Re: iggie's modelling table
Cheers Shaun!
After nearly two hours perusing the stash this afternoon, I have decided on my next project: the Revell 1/350 Iwo Jima
This might take a while
1428 parts plus the included PE. See you in about six months!

I take it that you're not going to enter the Iwo Jima kit for this month's Blitzbau then, Iggie

Well I was in two minds really.......ShaunW wrote:I take it that you're not going to enter the Iwo Jima kit for this month's Blitzbau then, Iggie
So far I have assembled the lower deck and am part way through the same with the hanger deck. I'm also considering lighting the interiors of both.....
Best wishes

View through one of the side lift openings into the aircraft hanger
Aircraft hanger placed on top of the vehicle decks, looking forward

In real life, we could have done donuts inside the flooded well deck of Iwo Jima But, I suspect our diesel bill is somewhat less....

Re: iggie's modelling table
Coming along very nicely there, Iggie. I did hear that at the time, the Iwo Jima's engine room computer was the most complicated piece of equipment known to man, other than the turret of an M60A2 tank.
Nice work, regardless.

Very unusual car Iggie! Cool looking. Not sure where you guys find these little gems.
The Vosper is great too. It makes me want to try out a boat. Looking forward to the Iwo Jima build.

Re: iggie's modelling table
Cheers guys!
This is where I'm at now:
Lower deck and hanger installed, and a lot of parts assembled and added to the stern. The Phalanx CIWS is made up from 10 parts on it's own
I need to gloss this area once finished to avoid finger marks and dust later!
Thankfully, Trumpeter didn't provide parts for that otherwise there'd be another 200 or so bits to nail together!Spaceowl wrote:Coming along very nicely there, Iggie. There is a lot of detail, and also some unnecessary part count; 4 bits when one would & could have sufficed kind of thing, but hey it keeps me off the streets and out of the pub, so who am I to argue?ShaunW wrote:Great start, Iggie. There is some very nice looking detail in that IJ kit!

Re: iggie's modelling table
That is mind-boggling amount of detail. I have seen these built and have to say You will be very very rewarded. The sheer size of this thing would send my cabinet to a crying corner.
