Brilliant! the detail has really popped under the paint. Very nicely done indeed.

I like your SW armada! Are you planning on a diorama with some of them?

Cheers folks :-D

I've just ordered another two of these Y-wings from Japan as they are so rewarding to do! :-D

@Marek: There will be a diorama one day, but it will involve one (or two) Bandai 1/144 AT-AT being buzzed by snow-speeders in the style of the Battle of Hoth scenes

The Y-wing was just what I needed after a couple of weeks away from the bench to get me back into the groove; normal service has been resumed and Iwo Jima is back underway again.
Lots of small parts to be glued, so no massive progress to show
Life raft canisters being glued to their mounting frames....there are a lot of canisters
I have also painted them white; not as the instructions but I felt a little artistic licence was required to lift the otherwise flat grey of the overall ship. If it doesn't work, I can always grubby them up a bit

That is a lot of canisters, Iggie. If the white doesn't work try a lighter shade of grey to the rest of the ship if you are seeking to avoid a wall of grey effect.

The hull is now pretty much complete except I suspect there is a lot of PE still to be fitted..... so I've attacked the island as it was next in the instructions. It's had a coat of grey and a first coat of anthracite on the decks. It's been placed on the hull just to see what it looks like

Lovely jubbly, you're doing some great work here, Iggie - the detail on those radars is something else.

To be fair, it has a bigger surface area than the tray on which I normally work! :-D :-D

Sometimes, there is just no getting away from the fact that PE really works on somethings, others not so much; this is one of those times when it really really works!

Talking of PE, the superstructure is taking shape; lots of bits added, and most of the handrails fitted. Interestingly, the handrail comes as stock lengths on two frets, rather than as pre-cut and scored (for folding) lengths as you would expect in a Trumpeter kit; no brownie points to Revell/Gallery Models for this! Much measuring and DIY folding to do
the mast & radar are just placed for show at present. I realised I'd forgotten to paint the glazing black, so had to go over it with a permanent marker pen

It is beginning to look a bit busier. This should be a visually interesting model once all is said and done. Are you going to give the hull and island walls a gray wash to bring out the finer details?
