Thank you for posting this and pulling the veil away from this new tool Stuka!

You're off to a wizard start and it all looks very sharp!

I can't help thinking that the way this kit is engineered makes it ripe for an engine swap with a cowled radial.

This really is looking good, Iggie. Alas, the usual issues that often form the basis of my gripes about the new tool kits - poor fit and difficult to remove parts - are present and correct but I'm sure this will build into a great looking Stuka once it's done and it is certainly miles apart from the original tooling. IMHO these new tool kits are worth persevering with but "shake and bake" they ain't - but, hey, we're modellers, right?

Indeed Shaun!

Following seeing the new Star Wars film, I decided to build one of my Bandai kits.
So unusually for me I've got two kits on the go at once!
I made a start last night on the Bandai 1/144 AT-AT, and built the 'head'

That is big for 1/144!

Does it come with any kind of interior? A little Luke hanging from the belly?

It's looking a lot bigger than I thought kit would be!
There is a cockpit with two Storm Troopers but you can't see any of it through the tiny slot window. As far as I can tell at this stage there is no internal detail inside the body.
Tonight was spent making two of the four legs, complete with articulating joints and toes! I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to paint these as the moving joints could get stuck, or the paint will simply scrape off when the joints move.

The surface detail looks good on this, Iggie and the model looks to be quite a size. So this is 1/144 then? I'm guessing the writers must have indicated a size or something when coming up with the idea for this vehicle as it's difficult to make a scale model of something that exists only in fantasy :???:

According to Wookiepedia (Who even knew that existed! :-D :-D ), the All Terrain Armoured Transport (Galactic Civil War version) was 20m long and 22.5m high, and had a maximum speed of 60kph (37.5mph) so at 1/144 it should end up 156mm high which is quite impressive!

I'm still pondering the painting issues! :???:

That has come together really quickly, Iggie and has made for an impressive looking piece.

Apart from a spray of matt varnish, we're done.
I've added some grime and stains with some Flory washes and picked out a few bits of detail in gunmetal to relieve the overall steel grey.
Very enjoyable kit indeed!

Thanks Gents! I don't think it'll be long before the Bandai 1/144 Millennium Falcon comes out to play :-D

Moving along, the Stuka has had a coat of grey, and green (wings only so far) using the kit splinter scheme; I have to say that the differentiation between the two colours is not as great as I'd expect, given that I am using (for once  ) the stated colours (Humbrol 242 & 241)....but it may perk up once varnished :???:

I have also commenced battle with my entry for the Figures GB; assembly and painting of the farm cart has begun!
