Well, we're staggering towards the finish of this bloomin' thing; canopy glazing to finish and install but otherwise I think it's nearly done. Hopefully the Heller D510 that is next up will be more enjoyable! :-D

To take away some of the stress of this build we had to go to the pub yesterday.......

That certainly looks relaxing after the Heinkel!
Well-deserved, I'd say.

The Heinkel does look good in those Spanish Civil War markings. Nice chug down the canal there by the looks, Iggie. After a nice spell of warm, sunny weather it's all gone pants up here now - classic Bank Holiday weather
Doing - Tamiya 1/35th Universal Carrier.

It's not much better down here to be honest; grey and overcast with spits of rain on and off all day.....the week ahead looks better, but then it would do after the bank holiday!
Best wishes

Battle has commenced with the Heller D510; to say it's a delight compared to the dog that is the Revell/ICM Blitz is an understatement......
This is where we are with it after one evening:

Lol - great instructions!

That looks like the sort of kit I'd like - simple.

What a fine looking classic French kit that Heller D-510 is and with one exploded diagram for the instructions! mega :-D It's great to see this being built.

I have to say the instructions from Heller do hark back to a simpler time.....only one make of paint, one glue, if the paint colour needed wasn't at hand, use the next nearest....ah well, progress is progress I suppose!

Anyhoo, we're done with the two builds for the 'One for the Books' GB:
The Heller D510 was a lovely little kit to build, the only slight trouble was getting the multi-part undercarriage to set correctly but it was no worse than any similar u/c would be from any other manufacturer so no real drama. Thankfully the comic cover shows no registration lettering etc, so my first ever painted markings

So to recreate the cover, I mounted both aircraft on lengths of sprue, bent to the approximate angle required and glued into holes drilled into the underside of each fuselage. The posts were then stuck into a block of oasis, placed in front of my PC monitor, with the edited cover provided by PT behind; simples! :-D I then airbrushed out the posts using the Canon Digital Photo Professional software I use to sharpen shots taken with my 'big' camera and this is the result:

Man Iggie! I'm late but that Pre-Dreadnought is just fantastic. So nicely finished. Keep the ships coming, you do such as good job on them.
You are building some interesting aircraft. Nice Heinkel.
