Re: iggie's modelling table
A successful evenings work:
I've added a gloss overall to seal the various paint colours and provide a smooth surface for decals. Undercarriage and other sticky-out bits commence this evening hopefully

If you can walk away from a landing, it's a good landing. If you use the airplane the next day, it's an outstanding landing

Re: iggie's modelling table
Thanks!
A little more work this evening has seen the superchargers and outside exhausts fitted, and the tail wheel and main undercarriage fitted.
The undercarriage is a little fiddly, but once glued is very strong. I also got the bomb bay doors and stays fitted

The Fort looks great
I'll be going for the boxing with the supply set as it will have Chelveston markings

All models are equal. Some models are more equal than others.

Cheers guys!
Things are moving on nicely this evening on the Fort, she's up on her wheels and has propellers fitted.

Re: iggie's modelling table
Excellent work, Iggie. I've got the OLD Revell boxing of the B-17e, that I'm going to be breaking open as soon as I finish a couple of projects I've got in the works. I'm starting to wish I'd picked up the new Airfix kit to replace the one in my stash.
Yours looks awesome.

The Fortress looks like it is on a good way to be a stunning model. I like your work a lot.

Re: iggie's modelling table
She's looking the part now her wheels and props are on. This new tool Airfix B-17 really does look very good. I have the Academy B-17G in the stash and I might be able to find a place for it but I don't have the room for two Forts and hence I won't buy the Airfix kit as well - I've got too many unbuilt kits as it is. Watching this build has made me realise that I really must have an example of this iconic bomber in my display though so I will build the Academy kit before too long.

Re: iggie's modelling table
Thanks folks; you are too kind
I also have the Academy kit, plus a second of the Airfix new-tool in the stash. One or other of those will get built one day in olive drab and some battle scars
I am pleased with the way this build is turning out, I thought at first the 'paint circles' were going to mean a drastic change of scheme, and a hunt for then correct decals. However, although still visible, the decals and panel variation takes your eye away from them so all is good!
Assembly is now complete, bar the waist guns , and most of the larger decals are on. Just the stencils, a gloss coat, some weathering and a dull coat to go....piccies later!

Re: iggie's modelling table
As promised, decals on, and a gloss varnish applied pre-weathering. If you blow hard, you can get all four props to go around at the same time
Best wishes
