That Camel just gets better, Iggie - very well rigged that man.

Good job with the repair Iggie. I am presently moored in Selby Bridge having slogged across the Pennines on the Rochdale canal. The Camel is shaping up well - great stuff.

A fine looking Camel you have there Iggie, with some nice rigging
A start on my first kit a Hawker Hurricane as been made, a spitfire awaits in the wings and thinking about models to come.

Lovely work Iggie. Rigging biplanes scares me silly! I about stroked out rigging my P-26 Peashooter.

Thanks guys for the kind words.

However, I decided to paint the rigging gun-metal grey and it has now sagged worse than Nora Batty's stockings, and looks awful  :frown: :frown: . With this and the decals not settling well (or at all in the case of the top wing roundels) I'm pretty well cheesed off with the build and it is not going to feature anymore on my bench. I will salvage the prop for use on the other Academy Camel I have, and will use elastic for rigging and order some AM decals to avoid using the kit supplied ones.

To cheer myself up a bit, I have started another Bandai mini kit, this time the venerable Millennium Falcon
The basic hull is now complete (which took about ten minutes :-D )
Image
I painted the engine thing Tamiya Chrome, with two coats of clear blue on top
Image
The detail of pipework and general bits and bobs is awesome at this scale (the whole thing is about 75mm long  )

I will continue with this and the Wellington (for the Bomber Aircraft GB) and forget all about Camels for a while ;-)
Best wishes

That's bad luck re the rigging, Iggie. I rarely build biplanes but in the past I have messed up rigging by painting it and in particular I remember one incident with the paint being a little too thick and it made my nice, fine, rigging look like anchor cable  Some modellers use Sharpies/felt tips to "paint" rigging but I haven't tried that myself. Take a breather with your other builds and hopefully you will be able to face repairing the rigging as opposed to giving the model a flying lesson!

Lovely detail on that Millennium Falcon that has really popped under the paint 8-)

That's a bummer iggie. It a shame to see all that fine work go for naught. I feel for you.

I could handle life on the waves - as long as they´re wern´t too many waves! Sad about the Camel it´s a bad knock for the mojo to lose them at the finishing line. I´ve got one at the moment with a flat coat reaction which may have to be put down.

Thankfully there aren't too many waves on the canals, otherwise Mrs iggie wouldn't be too keen!

My mojo restorer is now finished; I now feel more in the mood to tackle the Wellington for the Bomber GB

Maybe Camels and canals don't mix
But canals and Falcons do

Smashing Falcon! I've got the tiny Revell one to play with and plan to do a diorama with it.
