Not much progress so far; the smaller battery guns are now painted and in place. Main deck will go on next, then hull and deck painting before moving on to the superstructure parts.
The quality of moulding is very good so far

I find that if I stick with one type of kit for too long then I get frustrated and lose interest; varying the genre stops this happening!

And talking of French Warships; we now have the main decks in place in the hull and painted, and some PE work has commenced. 4 access stairs are assembled (ok, folded ;-) ) and I've pre-painted the umpteen individual shutters that surround the lower deck armament; there are 4 per gun for the midships placements

Interesting subjects on the go Iggie and the Sea Hawk has turned out very nicely. Did you do a DIY bend of the main rotors to simulate the weight, or did the kit make allowance for that effect?

Very nice Sea Hawk.

Nice work on the chopper. You can't beat droopy rotors to add a degree of realism.
Looking forward to the ship being built. Is there much rigging? ;-)

Well done with the SH-60, especially that it has to be one of the worst Italeri kits in terms of fit I have ever encountered (still builds ok though). I like it a lot. The Danton looks already like it is on its way to look like a proper warship.

Probably not as much as the original! :-D
But there will indeed be some, quite a bit I expect
Droopy rotors come naturally I find nowadays  :ha:

I do like the quality of the plastic you have been rewarded with to work from, on the warship.

As for silk purses and sows ears you have done well with the chopper.

Thanks Chris! The Hobby Boss moulding is very crisp indeed, hardly a trace of any flash and even the sprue gates are as small as they could make them. Happy days!

Further progress on Danton:
Work has commenced on the bridge superstructure; PE bracing to the wings and forward overhang
Image

Image
The aft superstructure is underway too; 16 plastic rods form the only support to this part, what could possibly go wrong!
Image
Looking from the bow, the superstructure is only placed at present but it's starting to take shape :)

That is looking great Iggie, the PE is really adding to the build. Looks fiddly diddly though!

Fiddly is one word....there are others that strangely enough start with 'F' as well....... :-D

The extra realism that you get with the PE at this scale is really worth the effort; much more rewarding visually than using it at 1/72 on aircraft for certain. It doesn't do much for my blood pressure at times though
