Really impressive work with the PE supports for the bridge. That sure is shaping up to be an impressive model.

I must admit, PITA that PE can be, it really does lift a kit at this scale!

The last two evenings work have involved a lot of big guns:

Anyone making this in the future, make sure you use the correct gun barrels for the two main turrets (Part 8, of which there is only one of on each of the four of sprue E) and part 9 for the secondary turrets; 6 turrets x 2 guns = 12, 3 each of part 8 on each of four sprue E....if that makes sense!
AND make sure you use the correct gun supports for the correct turret....
Don't ask me how I know this
Best wishes

Last night I spent some time before the mast......the styrene yards are commendably thin, even to the extent I'm now worried about using elastic thread to rig this one as they won't take any strain at all! I think I may need to use monofilament nylon (fishing line) from the jack to the mast heads bow and stern, then elastic in-between to kepp all in tension. What could possibly go wrong with that then?
Foremast (actually main I suspect) loosely placed into the superstructure and in place on the hull

and with the superstructure only. The mast is as yet unpainted

Trust me to pick a ship with 5 yes FIVE funnels!
Each one has four styrene parts and 4 PE parts......so far I've assembled all the plastic parts, the PE can wait until tomorrow
I've placed them on the hull to see how it looks, along with various boiler intakes and the like that got added last evening plus a crane :-D which still has four PE bits to be added

Great work. I trust when it's finished it'll have sea trials in the bath.

That looks marvellous Iggie. Chances are it will capsize without ballast though if you do attempt Toby's sea trials!

I love watching PE work!. Always inspires me to try it because it adds so much to a model, especially ship models. Have not gathered up the courage to try it myself on a ship though. Really enjoying looking at your work though!

This will not be going anywhere near the bath! Although I think with some careful ballasting it could float quite well as it has quite a wide bottom (Ooer Mrs  )

Thanks Shaun & Paul; I'm slowly nearing the finishing post now (judging by the PE frets having less and less parts still to be fixed any way!)
Yesterday it was time to do the long runs of handrails along the main deck edges, and a couple more ladder sets. I have also made all ( ) the life boats. There are a lot of them, I've only got two in the pictures as the rest are in safe storage away from the cat and carpet monster!

Wonderful work Iggie, that really looks the business. I think the bent rail adds some character
