That's magnificent work right there, Iggie! Bravo! Biggest 350th scale tub I could get away with at present is the old ZVEZDA Kursk, and I can't even imagine where I would put a behemoth like this!

Re: iggie's modelling table
Nice work!
The fine details all really stand out, and the deck looks suitability busy. Are any figures available in this scale?
I'm not convinced by your rust streaks and stains. Some are too wide and ill-defined. Maybe go over with a brush dampened in white spirits to drag them out a bit? I'm just nit picking though. It's a great build of a great big model. Not something I would ever likely have accomplished. Well done!

All models are equal. Some models are more equal than others.

Re: iggie's modelling table
Thanks all!
It's been a relief to shift this from the bench (even if a tad prematurely, sans anchors and props.... ) but I've learned a fair bit from tackling what has to be the longest (both in time and space ) build for me to date. Not the least of which is that next time I'll have a bigger bench!
There are figures available, and indeed I have a couple of sets of Tamiya 1/350 crew around somewhere....but they are in one of my other 1/350 ship boxes and I haven't had a chance to look for them yet!

I agree that some of the streaking looks a bit off; photos of the real thing show something along the lines of what I was trying to achieve, but I didn't quite capture it as well as I could have done. The whole thing is now matt varnished (acrylic) so white spirits won't work. When I have a bit of time, I may have another go on top of the existing to see if I can improve it!Softscience wrote:Nice work!

Well done with that beast of a model, Iggie. The level of detail on there is fantastic!

Everything looks great including the weathering!
How many hours did it take you to finish? Sure not a 24-hour blitz build candidate haha

Re: iggie's modelling table
Thanks Shaun & Michael
As far as build time is concerned, I started 18/08/17 so say 10 (we were away for 10 days in September) weeks at an average of 5 evenings per week with two hours bench time = around 100 hours

Museum quality! I'd pay admission to somewhere displaying work like that.
