In brighter news the ramp has had a second coat of yellow and most of the dark green camouflage. Oh and I forgot to mention that there are two ramps and two V1s in the box

I don’t know if you knew but at the Duxford Air Museum they have a V1 on a ramp out side and in one of the hangers the have the start of the ramp with the booster mechanism.

A quick google will bring up lots of images.

Wow! Great project!
At Omaka last year they had a full-scale, flying, radio-controlled V1. Some small sacrifices to true dimensions to facilitate the 'modern' engine and altered balance.



It was attacked in the air by a Spitfire XIV (a la FROG), but I missed a picture of that.

Thanks for the thoughts re Fred. He had to be taken into Hospital this morning and has been admitted; I'm not sure that there is that much that can now be done for him but it will make things easier for Myrtle his wife.

As far as the V1 ramp goes;
@Splash: I knew about the outside ramp & V1, but not the inside section; thanks for that as it might give some inspiration for detailing the kit a bit more
@David: I remember your photos from before; a great bit of 1:1 modelling! The trailer looks pretty nifty too!

Sorry to hear about Fred, Jim. Know what it's like through recent experience. Very common to want to stay at home, and hospital can be extremely disorienting and distressing at that age, in spite of good intentions and sympathetic care. Best wishes to you and the family.

Thanks David; you have it in a nutshell. It's hard knowing he is in the best place for practical reasons but the worst emotionally. Thankfully he is sleeping most of the time and blissfully unaware of his whereabouts as a consequence.

I have been in a similar position myself,(as what you are facing in respect of in-laws), and we faced the situation that was mentioned in the post directly above, by a fellow forum member, but... (well I am openly not posting or describing our situation further), but .. condolences to you and yours.

The V1 and ramp has pretty much been finished. I added some rust (but not too much as I don't think many of the launch sites stayed in one piece long enough to suffer to much corrosion) and a bit of grime. Next up is to make a base for it. Interestingly, I found a set of decals in the kit box, but they look more like German Tank markings, and to the best of my knowledge the V1s didn't have insignia....but I stand to be corrected on that one!

Looking great, Iggie. I'm no real expert on the subject but I don't think operational V-1's sported any tactical markings - perhaps there might be a a few stencils but certainly I can't recall seeing any with numbers, crosses or swastikas and the like.

I did a very brief bit of research online and they're ate a few stencils on some preserved examples so I'll have a ferret through the decals and see what I can find.

In the meantime I made up a base for it to sit on, which inspired by some of the online pictures of museum exhibits is going to become an open air museum. The idea being that I can add other exhibits as and when I build them along with some picnic benches, information boards and of course paying visitors
